Basic Trope: A Crossover concept is created, but it is a weird concept.

  • Straight: Ninja Felines is a series of books focusing on a feisty group of stray cats, and it is mainly realistic and serious. Kings of the Air is an arcade flight shooter with WW2-style dogfights with modern and futuristic fighter jets, and it has a much different, but still serious vibe. However, one fanfiction crosses them over.
  • Exaggerated:
    • It's not a fanfic, it's an official crossover. Unsurprisingly, it becomes a minor meme in both fandoms.
    • Kings of the Air is set in a completely different universe from Ninja Felines, and/or Ninja Felines is stated to be fictional in the Kings of the Air universe, but they're still crossed over.
    • It's a crossover between heaps of different works.
    • Demographic-Dissonant Crossover
  • Downplayed:
    • Kings of the Air is crossed over with The Adventures of Alice and Bob, which is another video game by the same creator, but it is mostly serious so the crossover still feels unusual.
    • Ninja Felines is crossed over with Daisy the Cat, which is a children's book that is a lot less serious than Ninja Felines, but it's not unrealistic and it's not too out there that Daisy might wander off and meet a group of stray cats.
  • Justified:
    • Ninja Felines and Kings of the Air actually take place in the same universe.
    • The characters from Kings of the Air have a machine that lets them enter alternate dimensions, in the game Kings of the Air 3: intersphere.
  • Inverted: The Adventures of Alice and Bob and Kings of the Air exist in the same universe and the characters of one show end up at a place where the characters of the other game frequent, but it doesn't turn into a crossover which ends up seeming weird.
  • Subverted: It turns out to be All Just a Dream or an imagining or a hallucination.
  • Double Subverted:
    • When the titular character Wacky Waldo of "Wacky Waldo" wakes up/stops daydreaming/stops hallucinating, he's still in the Ninja Felines universe.
    • He's not in the Ninja Felines universe but he's in the universe of Daisy the Cat.
    • He thought he was hallucinating but he wasn't.
    • He was imagining visiting the Ninja Felines because he was anticipating actually visiting them.
    • Or Was It a Dream?
  • Parodied: It's mainly a Ninja Felines fanfic, but the Kings of the Air fandom meme One Winged Fairie makes an appearance saying, "I'm here because the writer wanted to make the strangest crossover in the world."
  • Zigzagged: It seems to be a crossover between Ninja Felines and Wacky Waldo but it turns out to be All Just a Dream... but when he wakes up, he's hanging out with Daisy the Cat... correction, it was a different cat called Daisy... who may or may not be a Ninja Felines Original Character.
  • Averted: There are no crossovers, or all the crossovers make perfect sense.
  • Enforced:
  • Lampshaded: "I shouldn't be here."
  • Invoked: Wacky Waldo deliberately jumps into a weird contraption to visit the Ninja Felines.
  • Exploited: One universe uses Phlebotinum from the other to their advantage.
  • Defied:
Wacky Waldo: "Let's hop into the universe-jumper and visit the Ninja Felines!"
Normal Nathan: "Let's not. That'd only confuse them."
  • Discussed:
  • Conversed: "I just read the strangest fanfiction: Wacky Waldo was hanging out with the Ninja Felines! No, I haven't had too much wine, I'm serious!"
  • Implied: Evil Eric, the villain from Wacky Waldo, has an insignia which he writes on everything. His insignia is seen on a tree in a Ninja Felines fanfic.
  • Deconstructed:
  • Reconstructed:
  • Played for Laughs: One of the Ninja Felines is the Only Sane Man, er, cat, and comments on all the weirdness.
  • Played for Drama: One of the characters dies during the crossover.
