Basic Trope: A Love Triangle that involves a vampire and a werewolf.
- Straight: Wolfgang, a werewolf, and Valentino, a vampire, are both competing to be the love interests of the human Alice.
- Exaggerated: Multiple werewolves and vampires are involved in a Love Dodecahedron.
- Downplayed:
- Alice is fairly certain that she's going to fall in love with Wolfgang, but still likes Valentino (or vice versa).
- Wolfgang is only a half-werewolf, and/or Valentino is a Dhampyr, but they're still in a love triangle with Alice.
- Justified:
- Wolfgang and Valentino are fierce competitors as it is, might as well have a conflict over who gets the girl.
- Alice finds monsters attractive, and can't decide which one she likes more.
- Inverted: Wolfgang and Valentino are trying to compete to be Alice's Arch-Enemy.
- Subverted:
- As it turns out, Wolfgang and Valentino aren't interested in being in love with Alice at all.
- Either Wolfgang and/or Valentino die.
- Alice ends up falling in love with Bob instead.
- Wolfgang and/or Valentino aren't actually werewolves or vampires - they're just falsely believed to be such.
- Alice ultimately decides to Marry Them All.
- Double Subverted:
- Then Alice enters a love triangle with Ulv the werewolf and Vlad the vampire.
- Bob enters the love triangle as well.
- Parodied:
- While Alice is trying to decide who to fall in love with, everyone keeps mentioning how she has to choose between necrophilia or bestiality.
- Alice falls in love with a werewolf-vampire hybrid and faces difficulty deciding which side of the hybrid she likes better.
- Zig-Zagged: Alice ultimately gets interested in Wolfgang... and then proceeds to break up with him in favor of Valentino. Then she finds out that Valentino isn't actually a vampire, and that he just has very pale skin and sharper than average canine teeth. Then she falls in love with Bob, and then another werewolf and a vampire, and then...
- Averted: Alice does not fall in love with any vampires or werewolves, or chooses one quickly.
- Enforced:
- "The Twilight Saga was a hit, right? Let's work off that!"
- To add a Fur Against Fang conflict in a romance story.
