Basic Trope: A character who was once social and outgoing becomes less so.

  • Straight: Lorenzo used to have friends whom he could always talk to, but years later, he hardly does that.
  • Exaggerated: Lorenzo used to be the biggest social butterfly in the world, now he's a ultimately quiet and distant loner whom others refer to as a weirdo because of it.
  • Downplayed:
    • Lorenzo still talks to his friends, but he doesn't talk to them as much as he does when he was younger.
    • Lorenzo was friendly, albeit shy, and wanted (or at least didn't mind) to interact with people. Now he is a through-and-through lone wolf who simply has no interest in social interaction.
  • Justified:
    • Lorenzo had family members who were killed in a fire and this made him cynical to the point that he doesn't feel the need to socialize.
    • Lorenzo did try to keep contact with his friends, but finds out they were focusing on their own lives.
    • Lorenzo is currently focusing on his career path; he doesn't have time for friends.
    • Lorenzo just wants to be alone.
    • Lorenzo was betrayed by his friends, and it left him bitter and cynical.
    • Lorenzo's friends all came from a local place, but due to global events, he was forced to isolate. He couldn't keep in touch, so Lorenzo naturally grew into an introvert.
  • Inverted:
  • Subverted: It were to seem that Lorenzo is a loner until he makes friends with Heather...
  • Double Subverted: ...but later, Lorenzo doesn't see her for a couple of months, so he becomes a loner again.
  • Parodied:
    • Lorenzo used to be a social person who proudly wears a white-colored t-shirt with a logo entitled "Friendship Is Awesome". Years later, he's a loner who takes interest in wearing black clothing and a T-shirt logo entitled "I'm a loner. Deal with it."
    • Lorenzo used to chat on the phone 24/7 with his friends. Nowadays, whenever the phone rings, he doesn't bother to answer it, often going as far as to disconnect it.
  • Zig Zagged: Lorenzo either feels that he needs to "recharge" his energy from all of that socializing, but in other times, he just wants to be alone, until a few moments later, he feels lonely and picks up the phone...
  • Averted: Lorenzo remains sociable throughout his life despite the circumstances.
  • Enforced: "I'm looking a way to change Lorenzo's personality. I know, let's make him an anti-social loner."
  • Lampshaded:
    • "Sounds like someone used to be a people person."
    • "How come you don't even bother to say 'hi' to people anymore?"
  • Invoked: Lorenzo gets fed up with social interaction after one too many gone awry. His extroverted persona quickly diminishes, and others catch onto the mood swing.
  • Exploited: Jenny tries to ruin Lorenzo's social life by telling lies to his friends that he doesn't need anyone.
  • Defied: Others try to get Lorenzo to start socializing again.
  • Discussed: "Lorenzo used to be friendly. Why is he so quiet now?"
  • Conversed: "Why are the writers giving Lorenzo a few lines? It's totally not like him to talk less with his friends."
  • Deconstructed: Lorenzo becomes less social to the point where it affects everyone around him. No one wants to associate themselves with him, and those who have known him for a long time have lost their respect for him. What makes matters worse is that criticism and rejection he has received from others pushes him into depression.
