Basic Trope: A frightening scene takes place in a bathroom.
- Straight: Bob goes to the bathroom and starts suffering Transformation Horror.
- Exaggerated: Nobody can go to the bathroom without something nasty happening.
- Downplayed: Bob goes to the bathroom and notices a small amount of blood, which turns out to be the beginning symptom of a disease that he has to medicate for the rest of the story.
- Justified:
- A person in the bathroom can examine their body more closely.
- A person in a bathroom likely has their guard down and is unarmed.
- Inverted: Bob goes to the bathroom and finds out he's gained amazing powers.
- Subverted: Bob goes to a suspicious-looking bathroom and...finds it's poorly maintained and nasty but not dangerous.
- Double Subverted:...Or so he thought. Later it turns out a parasite had hidden in the toilet and got into him.
- Parodied: Bob screams when entering a Bathroom. He saw a man eating a sandwich. The man gets mad and punches Bob.
- Zig Zagged: Bob goes to a suspicious-looking bathroom, but finds it's poorly maintained and nasty but not dangerous. Alice goes to a bathroom and finds out she has amazing powers. Charlie goes to the bathroom and suffers Orifice Invasion from a parasite (which may or may not become symbiotic at some point) and Dracone has to fight a guy trying to kill him in the bathroom.
- Averted: Nobody Poops.
- Enforced: The author has germaphobia and already finds bathrooms uncomfortable.
- Lampshaded:Bob: Be careful of bathrooms. Laugh if you want, but they can be deadly.
- Invoked: Emperor Evulz lays a trap for Bob in the bathroom.
