Basic Trope: A Casual Danger Dialogue version of a freaked-out moment, usually Played for Laughs.
- Straight: Bob sees a pack of werewolves running toward him. He says, "This is gonna suck."
- Exaggerated:
- Bob sees a pack of werewolves running toward him, a nearby volcano erupting, an Eldritch Abomination rising, and signs of The Plague on his hands. He says, "This isn't as good as it would usually be."
- Oh, Crap!
- Downplayed: Bob sees a pack of werewolves running toward him. He sighs and shakes his head in resignation before running for his life.
- Justified:
- Bob tends to be The Stoic or a Deadpan Snarker.
- Either that, or Bob's been through so much shit that he simply just couldn't waste more energy on screaming for his life and having panic attacks.
- Bob knows that there's nothing he could do to stop it, so there's no point in making a big deal about it.
- Bob knew the werewolves would attack eventually. No matter how unpleasant it will be, Bob just needs to get on with it.
- Inverted:
- Bob sees a penguin rescue his best friend from certain doom. He just says, “Well, I guess that’s a minor improvement.”
- Bob runs out of peanut butter, and treats this like a major crisis.
- Subverted: Bob sees a pack of werewolves running towards him and mutters that this won't be fun...but it turns out he's developed powers that make him able to take them out fairly easily; it's just a pain.
- Double Subverted: However, when they get closer, Bob sees they're not just werewolves; they're zombie werewolves, and his powers won't be able to manage them. He says, "Rats. This is going to leave a mark."
- Parodied: Bob reacts this way after his wife Alice suffers a miscarriage.
- Zig Zagged: ???
- Averted: No one who gets into a dangerous situation reacts casually.
- Enforced: The executives want the scene more funny than scary.
- Lampshaded:Charlie: Bob seems awfully casual about this fight.Alice: That's the closest he'll get to showing an enemy he's afraid.
- Invoked: ???
- Exploited: ???
- Defied: "Oh, shit, we're gonna fucking die! RUUUN!!!"
- Discussed: "Yeah, it won't be Bob."
- Conversed: "I don't think most people would react to danger the way people in movies do — they'd be screaming and running around instead of underplaying it."
- Played For Drama: Bob reacts this way because he's used to such horrible things happening to him.
