Basic Trope: A starship armed with both guns and Space Fighters, as opposed to just one of them.
- Straight: The SS Tropernus is armed with several hundred gun batteries and four hangars for Space Fighters.
- Exaggerated: The Dreadnought-class SS Tropernus is armed with thousands of huge rail guns and hangars big enough for other capital ships to dock in.
- Downplayed:
- The SS Tropernus has emergency hangars for damaged Space Fighters and doesn't carry them normally.
- The SS Tropernus has a couple dozen gun batteries and a hangar for auxiliary craft.
- Justified: Starships have a better chance of success if they're both armed and carry an escort.
- Inverted: The SS Tropernus is completely unarmed.
- Subverted: The SS Tropernus appears to carry Space Fighters at first, but later turns out to be maintenance drones.
- Double Subverted: But said drones can also be used for combat.
- Parodied: The SS Tropernus has hangars filled with fighter craft that deliver pizza to Space Marines, claiming it is the most important aspect of war, even moreso than Space Fighters.
- Zig Zagged: The SS Tropernus is fitted with guns and fighters, but then removes its hangars to accomodate for more guns, before they realize a starship needs escort fighters and builds more hangars.
- Averted: Space-born aircraft carriers and battleships are distinct and don't share each other's role.
- Enforced: The creator can't think of any more ship designs and makes his capital ships carry both guns and fighters.
- Lampshaded: "The Troperia is big enough to be armed to the teeth and carry an entire squadron of fighters."
- Invoked: The Admiral calls for a hangar to be built on the Troperia, knowing it would have a better chance in battle with fighters by its side.
- Defied: The General however insists more guns are better than fragile fighters.
- Exploited: The Mole uses a fighter to escape the Troperia.
- Discussed: "We've come a long way; several decades ago, carriers and battleships were two different things. Now they are one and the same."
- Conversed: "That starship has both guns and fighters, kind of like those big ships from that sci-fi series."
- Deconstructed: Launching fighters in the middle of battle causes some incidents of friendly fire, and The Federation vetoes for a removal of all Space Fighter squadrons.
- Reconstructed:
- But the Space Fighter pilots manages to avoid their own fire by becoming better pilots, winning the war thanks to a combination of heavy firepower and large-scale fighter squadrons.
- The Tropernus launches her fighters before flying into battle herself, reducing the chances of destroying said fighters via friendly fire.
- Played For Laughs: The Troperia uses its fighters as missiles.
- Played For Drama: An Insane Admiral takes command of the Troperia and uses its combined firepower of guns and fighters to go on a rampage.
