- Downplayed:
- Bob is ordinarily drawn with Four-Fingered Hands, but sometimes gains an extra finger if counting or something similar.
- Alice normally has Monochromatic Eyes, but gains pupils in one scene.
- Justified: Bob is a shapeshifter.
- Inverted:
- Bob is ordinarily drawn with five fingers, but gains Fingerless Hands in one scene.
- Invisible Anatomy
- Subverted: Bob attempts to count on his fingers but then remembers that he doesn't actually have fingers.
- Double Subverted: Then his fingers suddenly appear when he realizes he'd need them to count.

- Zig-Zagged: Bob's finger count is wildly inconsistent, to the point that nobody knows how many fingers he normally has.
- Averted: Simplified characters (if there are any) are never drawn with a sudden extra body part.
