- He pulls this off in the middle of an open field, with only a tiny plume of smoke.
- Downplayed: We can still see Hiro through the smoke as he leaves.
- Justified:
- Hiro is a ninja, and uses theatricality and deception as his main weapons.
- Hiro has Super Smoke as his powerset.
- Hiro can teleport, but prefers not to be seen while teleporting.
- The smoke itself is also a Deadly Gas or incendiary smoke, meaning that the smoke Hiro deploys can incapacitate his foes and prevent them from reaching him.
- Inverted:
- Smoke Shield: a massive explosion occurs around Hiro, and when it clears he's still standing.
- Hiro uses a smoke bomb as part of a Dynamic Entry.

- Hiro drops the smoke bomb, but it was a double-bluff: He's still there, waiting to attack when the smoke clears.
- Hiro Picks out a small pellet... and it turns out to be a regular bomb.
