Basic Trope: A character who sleeps nude.
- Straight: Alice is always seen sleeping naked.
- Exaggerated:
- Alice strips off to sleep even if she is out camping in the cold, or sleeping in public.
- Alice is at a sleepover with her friends, a military barracks, or a boarding school. She still sleeps naked.
- Alice lives in the nude full-time.
- Downplayed: Alice sleeps in just her bra and panties.
- Justified:
- Alice is a nudist.
- Pyjamas are uncommon or not used at all in Alice's culture/era.
- The temperature is too hot in her room, and Alice sleeps better when naked.
- Alice went to bed after having sex and was too worn out to put sleepwear on first.
- Alice has mobility issues and doesn't bother putting on another set of clothes just to sleep.
- Alice lives alone, so she has no real need to cover herself up.
- Alice is being held captive (possibly as a Sex Slave) and was not given any clothes to wear.
- Inverted:
- Alice sleeps in a full pyjamas, socks, a nightcap, and a blindfold.
- Alice is naked at every waking moment, while she only gets dressed to go to bed.
- Subverted: Bob pulls the sheets from Alice, and the audience can only see his shock reaction at first. Then we pan to the real reason for his shock: Alice wears Goofy Print Underwear in bed!
- Double Subverted:
- Except the underwear is only there in the TV version of the scene, added as a Gag Censor. The uncensored reveal shows her naked.
- Even if the underwear was there all along, she gets up and takes it off for whatever reason, then goes back to bed naked.
- Parodied: Alice undresses even before passing out from drinking, fainting, or falling into a coma.
- Zig-Zagged:
- Alice is seen sleeping naked in some episodes, but sleeping fully clothed in other episodes.
- How much Alice wears to bed depends on the weather/season outside.
- Averted:
- Nobody sleeps in the series.
- Everybody wears pyjamas to bed.
- Enforced:
- This is a way to establish Alice as a Shameless Fanservice Girl.
- The author prefers to be nude, and it leaks into her writing.
- Lampshaded: "Yes, I sleep nude. It's made me freer and healthier."
- Invoked: Cheryl, Alice's girlfriend, confesses that she likes waking up to Alice naked even if they didn't sleep together last night, and Alice decides to indulge her.
- Exploited:
- Bob, who has a crush on Alice, invites her to a sleepover.
- Bullies break into Alice's house while she's asleep, pull her blanket off and take naked photos of her.
- Defied:
- Bob, who has authority over Alice, orders her to wear pyjamas to bed.
- Alice is somewhere that is too cold for her to go to bed naked.
- Alice must not sleep in the nude because her kids shouldn't see her in the nude.
- Discussed: "Maybe I'd sleep better if I slept naked."
- Conversed: "I can guess the real reason they wrote the nude bed scene for Alice."
- Implied: Alice is off-screen or only seen from her neck up during her entire morning routine until she has put on her day-to-day clothes.
- Deconstructed:
- Because she's so used to sleeping nude, when a friend invites Alice to a non-sexual sleepover, she has trouble falling asleep because it's too warm.
- Alice finds the room too cold to sleep in.
- Alice's skin chafes against the bedsheets.
- Alice's friends catch her naked.
- There's a fire at night and Alice has to go outside naked.
- Reconstructed:
- Her friends let her strip naked.
- She keeps a robe for emergency purposes.
- Her neighbours tolerate her nudity.
- Played for Laughs: There Is Only One Bed, Alice has to sleep with Bob, and two factors make it funny but awkward while they try not to let UST subsume them.
- Played for Drama: Alice is body-shamed for sleeping naked.
- Played for Horror:
- Alice is killed while sleeping naked.
- Alice sleeps naked in a packed dormitory with her Nightmare Fuel tattoos on display for everyone else to see.
