Basic Trope: A game mechanic which allows you to redistribute the skill points, attribute gains, and perks you've previously earned and applied.
- Straight: In Tales of Troperia XIX, a machine at the Player Headquarters allows you to redistribute the skills points, attributes gains, and perks you've obtained for any character in exchange for Tropebucks.
- Exaggerated: You can redistribute as many times as you want completely for free, rebuilding every character if you so choose.
- Downplayed:
- You can only redistribute one point per in-game day.
- It is prohibitively expensive to use more than once or twice per play-through.
- Justified: Ghost Memories are a major story element, and redistributing represents you transferring these memories around.
- Inverted:
- Subverted: The machine is a trap set by the Big Bad which steals the points from your characters.
- Double Subverted: The machine is a trap set by the Big Bad which steals the points from your characters, but you can undertake a quest to get them back plus extra.
- Parodied:
- Zig-Zagged: The machine allows you to redistribute points, but every time you use it, it adds extra power to the Final Boss, making the end game much harder.
- Averted: There is no way to redistribute points once applied.
- Enforced:
- Lampshaded:
- Exploited:
- Defied: The game has a pop-up message during your first level up which states "there is no way to reset your skill points once selected, so choose wisely.}
- Discussed:
- Conversed: Before a tough highly specialized mission, one character says "hey, let me go use the machine to redistribute my points to fit".
- Deconstructed: Using the machine literally rips memories from your characters' minds, making them more proficient but leaving them with several psychological scars.
- Reconstructed: The characters all have tragic backstories and are better off without those horrific memories.
