Basic Trope: Someone wears bones as part of their outfit or as armor.

  • Straight: Emperor Evulz wears a skull helmet with some bones attached to his belt.
  • Exaggerated: All of Emperor Evulz' clothing is made entirely from bone.
  • Downplayed:
    • Evulz' necklace has a few real bones strung to it.
    • Evulz is Putting on the Reich, so his Commissar Cap and epaulets, and a few other details include metal skull motifs.
  • Justified:
    • Evulz wanted to make use of the bones he collected - they could be either the bones of enemies he's defeated, or simply bones he found.
    • Bones are fairly durable, and Evulz wants to use them as armor.
    • Evulz just finds bones cool.
    • Evulz had to make due with what he could find on the island.
    • Evulz is pretending to be a skeletal being.
    • Evulz draws power from bones, so he always makes sure he has some on hand.
  • Inverted: Evulz is a skeleton that wears flesh as part of his outfit.
  • Subverted:
    • It turns out that the bones were actually fake.
    • Although it seems like Evulz is wearing a skull as a helmet, it's actually his head.
  • Double Subverted:
    • He does switch over to using real bones in his outfit, though.
    • Despite the skull being his real head, he still wears real bones alongside the skull fairly frequently.
  • Parodied:
    • Evulz' skull helmet is hilariously disproportionate to his real head.
    • There is a section in a supermarket dedicated to supervillains full of different clothes and accessories made of bones.
  • Zig-Zagged: Evulz is sometimes shown wearing bones, and sometimes he isn't.
  • Averted: Nobody ever wears bones.
  • Enforced: To establish Evulz as Obviously Evil.
  • Lampshaded: "You wear bones in your belt? That must make it uncomfortable for you to sit."
  • Invoked: Evulz wears skulls as a way to intimidate his enemies in battle.
  • Exploited: ???
  • Defied: ???
  • Discussed: "I don't know who the enemy can be, but I suspect the army of the man wearing a human skull for a helmet is up to no good."
  • Conversed: "I wonder why so many characters often wear bones."
  • Implied: It's not entirely clear if Evulz is wearing a skull or if he has a Skull for a Head.
  • Deconstructed: This isn't a very practical clothing choice and it restricts Evulz's mobility.
  • Reconstructed: Evulz uses magic to make the bones stay in place.
  • Played for Laughs: Evulz gives the heroes a science lesson about the human skeleton using his outfit to demonstrate. The heroes find this more terrifying than any of his other tortures.
  • Played for Drama: Evulz personally killed everyone whose bones he wears, and he gleefully taunts the heroes about all their loved ones he's now wearing.
