Basic Trope: A character displays varying degrees of sociability depending on their cicrumstances.

  • Straight: Eileen is normally a quiet Shrinking Violet who Hates Small Talk, but on social media, she is gregarious, sociable, and makes her life an open book.
  • Exaggerated: Eileen have multiple personalities across various social groups and internet boards. At school, she is a quiet loner who freaks out at the slightest bit of social contact with anyone; at home, she is a bossy Spoiled Brat. On the internet, she's involved in a writer's guild where she presents herself as an insightful philosopher, an imageboard where she dumps lame jokes and memes, and another site where she post inflammatory remarks and generally behaves like the worst of humanity.
  • Downplayed: Eileen tends to be more demanding and irritable, and less willing to entertain small talk when she's at home than when she's with her friends.
  • Justified: Eileen can easily adapt her personality to suit the unique social environment she is in. Since the different groups she's involved in has different styles of communication and unspoken social norms, they bring out the various parts of her that she wouldn't otherwise show.
  • Inverted: Eileen insists on "being herself" even when the situation demands her to adapt, being as formal with close family and friends as she is with strangers and even enemies.
  • Subverted: Eileen is a New Transfer Student and her skittishness is just the way she usually is when in unfamiliar situations. Even online, she only starts being open and personable after spending years lurking and getting a hang of how the people in the group communicates.
  • Double Subverted: Even after coming out of her shell, her online and offline social habits are quite different. She tends to stick to the Book Dumb jokers at school and talk about pop culture and other, non-serious things. Online, she prefers to hang in intellectual boards and discuss deep philosophical, political and scientific ideas.
  • Parodied: ???
  • Zigzagged: Eileen is shy and awkward on her own, but can socialise normally when a trusted friend is around.
  • Averted: Eileen acts in the same manner regardless of her surrounding.
  • Enforced: "Wow, people really don't like Eileen's shyness. Can we give her some Character Development?" "No, it's too early. What if she's not so shy around different people?"
  • Lampshaded: "Who are you and what have you done to Eileen?"
  • Invoked: Eileen deliberately acts differently online so that other netizens who might know her in real life won't recognize her.
  • Exploited: ???
  • Defied: Eileen decides that she doesn't want to be a two-faced person anymore, and decides to be more open to everyone.
  • Discussed: "Wait, this '@li3n' guy is Eileen? But she's so quiet and unasssuming. @li3n is loud and colourful."
  • Conversed: "I like Eileen, but I can't stand @li3n. They're practically two different characters."
