Basic Trope: A town is painted in a single color.

  • Straight: Watertown is entirely blue.
  • Exaggerated: Even the trees are painted blue in Watertown, and all the people have blue hair.
  • Downplayed:
    • Only the buildings are blue, and they are many different shades of blue.
    • Watertown has a water-inspired color palette, but is many colors.
  • Justified:
    • It's a town full of Water-types and to differentiate themselves from Firetown, Airtown, and Earthtown they paint everything blue.
    • Most of the town's historic buildings come from a time where non-blue paints were too expensive to import and they are keeping them in their original color(s).
  • Inverted: The countryside is entirely blue.
  • Subverted: As Alice and Bob walk through the blue streets of Watertown, they see that the City Hall is a large prominent white building.
  • Double Subverted:
    • City Hall is later repainted blue.
    • But the insides of City Hall are all blue.
  • Parodied: Upon entering Watertown, Alice and Bob have blue paint dumped on them, so they too can be blue.
  • Zig Zagged: Watertown is all blue, but Earthtown has no predominant color.
  • Averted: Watertown is every color.
  • Enforced: "Watertown is almost exactly the same as Airtown, so let's make Watertown blue."
  • Lampshaded: A sign outside of Watertown reads "Welcome to Watertown, America's Bluest Town."
  • Invoked: The Water-Types intentionally build the town to be blue to celebrate their powers.
  • Exploited:
    • It's easy to tell who or what doesn't belong in Watertown if it's not colored blue.
    • Primarily blue Water-Types escape into the town to camouflage and evade anyone chasing after them.
  • Defied: When the town was founded, the original Water-types made everything blue, but successive generations varied the color palette to the point where the town is no longer predominantly blue.
  • Discussed: "If Watertown's this blue, I have to wonder what colors the other towns are."
  • Conversed: "I'm sure the colorists had a lot of fun working with Watertown."
