Basic Trope: Multiple works by multiple creators are set in the same 'Verse.

  • Straight: Nick's Chronicles and Dawson's Journey are set in the same universe and written by different people.
  • Exaggerated:
    • Nick's Chronicles and Dawson's Journey are set in same universe, despite the former being high-octane High Fantasy, and the later a seemingly mundane Dom Com.
    • Nick's Chronicles and Dawson's Journey are, in addition to being in completely different genres, Long-Runners which have had dozens of different writers/artists/designers each. And they're only two of the twenty-four currently running series in the mega-franchise they belong to.
  • Downplayed: Nick's Chronicles and Dawson's Journey share many common elements, suggesting that they take place in the same universe, but is never confirmed in either series.
  • Justified: The works are part of a larger franchise, or one is a spin-off of the other, whose stories are meant to tie together in some meaningful way.
  • Inverted: Dawson's Ultimate Journey sounds like a sequel, but it ignores what happened in Dawson's Journey and instead takes places in different universe.
  • Subverted: Nick's Chronicles is set to crossover into Dawson's Journey, but is revealed to be a Show Within a Show.
  • Double Subverted: The Show Within a Show is based on actual people who do exist within the same universe.
  • Parodied: ???
  • Zig Zagged: ???
  • Averted: Nick's Chronicles and Dawson's Journey don't connect with each other at all.
  • Enforced: The producers/publishers want it that way so they can interest audiences of one series in another, or create Crossover specials, and make more money than they would out of works with multiple niche fandoms.
  • Lampshaded: Dawson to his new friend: "Believe it or not, I've met a guy who really does know Nick, who really is a wizard. There's a lot more weird stuff out there than we ever see here."
  • Invoked: ???
  • Exploited: Nick's Chronicles was Left Hanging and was cancelled, leaving many fans scratching their heads. Since Dawson's Journey is set in the same universe, they ended up working the cliffhanger into their storyline and finally gave Nick's Chronicles a proper conclusion.
  • Defied: ???
  • Discussed: ???
  • Conversed: "You know those big complicated fictional universes where there are hundreds of characters and a whole bunch of different writers working on them? How do they keep it all straight? I can't even remember my girlfriend's birthday."
  • Implied: Word of God says that Nick's Chronicles and Dawson's Journey take place within the same universe
