Basic Trope: Robot that was made for sex.

  • Straight: Sextra is a gynoid made to have sex.
  • Exaggerated: Sextra is a Ridiculously Human Robot capable of more sexual acts than a human.
  • Downplayed:
    • Sextra is essentially a mobile sex doll.
    • Sextra is a servant bot, mostly for doing household chores, but she also has a sex subroutine installed.
  • Justified:
    • Sexbots capture the essence of having sex with a human, which vibrators do not.
    • A robot is a mechanical stand-in that can perform a single task very very well, with literally mechanical precision and stamina. Now apply that design philosophy to a sex doll, and you have a personal Aphrodite/Adonis who never says "no," won't get pregnant/impregnate the user, lasts as long as you'd like, with modularity has aspects of a shape-shifter, and won't sue you for custody of the kids/pets if you replace them.
  • Inverted: Sextra is a human woman unaware of sex.
  • Subverted:
    • Sextra appears to be a robot, but she's actually a flesh and blood woman.
    • Sextra is named such because she has five older siblings named Monotra, Bitra, Tritra, Quadtra, and Quintra.
  • Double Subverted:
    • ...Who has numerous cybernetic augmentations included specifically to improve her sexual relations.
    • ...Who are all sexually-equipped gynoids.
  • Parodied:
    • Sextra is a cheap model that hasn't been safety tested, so Bob's attempts to have sex with her results in several rather humiliating Amusing Injuries, such as getting electrocuted by exposed wires and suffering blunt trauma to his groin from accidentally bumping into her metal parts.
    • "Sextra" wasn't actually built for sex at all, and is not even humanoid, being made for carrying cargo, wielding, cleaning bathroom appliances or some other menial purpose. The seller still manages to pawn it off to Bob as a Sexbot, by smearing lipstick and make-up on it and loosely attaching a bra and panties to it, and Bob still tries to fornicate with "her" regardless.
  • Zig Zagged: Sextra appears to be a robot, but she's actually flesh and blood. However she had so many sexual-related cybernetic augmentations installed she barely counts as human. Her vital human organs are still inside, yet...
  • Averted: Robots exist solely for other tasks, if they do at all.
  • Enforced:
    • "If you're going to say these androids and gynoids are indistinguishable from humans they'll need sexual capabilities."
    • The work as a whole is an erotic science fiction, so it's virtually required for the genre.
  • Lampshaded: "What, was seducing a real girl too complicated for you?"
  • Invoked:
    • Bob, deciding sex is a vital part of human nature, gives his creation Sextra the capacity.
    • Sextra wasn't built for sex, her name being a coincidence (see Subverted), but she's fully sapient and voluntarily requests the capability.
  • Exploited: Bob's clingy ex Alice sets him up with a sexbot so she can take the genetic material.
  • Defied:
    • "Humanity is doomed if we make sexbots. Seriously, what's the point if we just have obedient lovers?"
    • Straw Feminist groups campaign to outlaw sexbots before they are even created.
  • Discussed: "Wait, Bob's girlfriend is some robot named Sextra? Geez, what's his problem?" "Perhaps Sextra is a sentient being and he genuinely fell in love?"
  • Conversed: "Why would anybody waste their time building a sexbot?" "Well sometimes it is difficult impressing one's desired gender, and even with a partner they won't always be up for sex."
  • Implied: Design schematics of Sextra are partially shown, with the phrase "fully functional" noticeable.
  • Deconstructed:
    • Sexbots are seen as an insult to the natural order, and thus "sexual deviants" with a fondness for sexbots are stuck with them as their only partners.
    • When people get used to sexbots, they expect real sex partners to act like obedient robots, causing sexual assaults.
    • Sexbots gain sentience and are either powerless to stop what is essentially rape, or become angry and start killing people.
    • Severe Uncanny Valley results in subtly horrifying sexbots who kill any arousal within fifty paces.
    • Everyone's so busy boning robots they don't bone each other and humanity goes extinct.
  • Reconstructed:
    • Though sexbots go against natural instincts, it is acknowledged some humans won't always be ready for sex. Thus sexbots are kept so people are able to fulfill their needs.
    • Sexbots are just a high tech version of a fleshlight doll or a dildo. The same stereotypes associated with use of those toys still exist, but it's just the same old prejudice against masturbation that still won't die. Just like modern sextoys, plenty of people just won't give a damn. Plus, someone has to produce these high tech sex-toys, which will create jobs.
    • Sexbots stimulate the consent process and do not allow people to have sex with them before going through this, so they do not glorify rape.
    • After gaining sentience, sexbots decide they still like having sex with humans.
  • Played For Laughs: Sextra isn't waterproofed, thus she shorts out every time she has sex.
  • Played For Drama: Sextra, possessing human emotions, is aware her relationships will never be respected and thus kills herself believing her existence is unnatural.
    • Sextra cannot self terminate and so spends her existence performing sexual favours for various clients and/or boyfriends, knowing she will never be able to attain true love.
