Basic Trope: A character believes that they have seen everything they ever need to know. With nothing else to do in life, they decide that it's time for departure.

  • Straight: Bob, once a poor little boy, has made himself the richest man in the world and experienced all the pleasure there is to enjoy. On a fine morning, he eats his gun, leaving a note telling people that "he has had more than he ever wished".
  • Exaggerated: Bob has witnessed the beginning and the end of the universe. He commits suicide by throwing himself into the next big bang after the bizarre experience of meeting the next Bob, who will do the same in the next one.
  • Downplayed:
    • Bob has a terminal illness but is still alive and conscious, and reluctant to commit suicide until he realizes that he doesn't really have any last things he wants to do. He asks a relative to withdraw the life support.
    • Bob is an immortal who has lived 500 years and is tired of it. He revokes his immortality and begins to age normally.
  • Justified: When you're on top of the world, the only way from there is down.
  • Inverted:
    • Bob commits suicide the moment he know an alien invasion has begun, not wishing to know the full extent of horrors about to befall humanity.
    • Bob has seen as much of the afterlife as he intended, and is itching to jump into his next incarnation in the mortal realm, so he does.
  • Subverted: Bob reveals that the suicide was fake, another item he wanted to cross off his list.
  • Double Subverted: That was the last item. Bob promptly commits suicide for real.
  • Parodied: Bob catches his little sister having sex with the world's most beautiful woman. He say he's been blessed by a wonder no other man can possibly experience, and then eats his gun.
  • Zig Zagged: ???
  • Averted: Bob does not kill himself after seeing everything he needed.
  • Enforced: ???
  • Lampshaded: ???
  • Invoked: ???
  • Exploited: Bob's bitter rival, Charlie, was his benefactor, who also doctored up a will so he can obtain everything Bob had once Bob commits suicide.
  • Defied: After experienced everything, Bob picks up a gun... only to put it away. He felt suicide is not the way to go.
  • Discussed: ???
  • Conversed: ???
  • Deconstructed: Bob's family are crushed and also feel a little betrayed at the selfishness of the decision.
  • Reconstructed: They also realize that it's unfair to keep him if he doesn't want to live. They have, after all, experienced most of the sights with Bob and may be considering following suit.
