Basic Trope: A crook dresses up as a monster.

  • Straight: Zadax disguises himself as a well-known evil mythical monster, the Blood Dragon.
  • Exaggerated: Zadax disguises himself as the well-known evil mythical monster, the Blood Dragon. This includes a massive robotic armoured suit, fully functioning roaring mechanisms, and flamethrowers.
  • Downplayed: Zadax himself is a wizard, but he uses magic to disguise himself as a much more threatening Blood Dragon.
  • Justified:
    • Zadak wants to protect his lands from other evil-doers, who are superstitious of the legend he is impersonating.
    • Zadax was creating hype for a Halloween Event. note
  • Inverted:
  • Subverted:
  • Double Subverted: Alice finds the 'Blood Dragon', and tries to pull his head off, only to hear an angry growl. After a chase, the rather more realistic suit gets ruined, and Zadax is pulled out by his feet.
  • Parodied: Zadax reveals his glorious scheme to terrify The Hero. It consists of an obviously fake rubber Deityzard outfit.
  • Zig Zagged: Alice pulls at the head of the collapsed Blood Dragon, only to tear it off. But now the Blood Dragon's brother is attacking! After the fight, Alice reveals the dragon to be Zadax in a suit. Zadax then turns out to be The Worm That Walks.
  • Averted: Zadax doesn't need a suit to terrify people.
  • Enforced: "It's a throwback to cheesy 1970's B-movies, we need a villain in a rubber suit!"
  • Lampshaded: "What is this, a throwback to cheesy B-movies?"
  • Invoked: "The peasants are gullible. What if I used their foolish Blood Dragon against them?"
  • Exploited:
    • "You know how people tend to disguise themselves as monsters around here? We could build our tourism on it."
    • The Blood Dragon is real, but Zadax builds an obviously fake 'Blood Dragon' to cover the existence of the real one.
  • Defied: "Wait, no, that's stupid. Let's use a Humongous Mecha instead!"
  • Discussed: "Do they actually think that tricks like this work on people?"
  • Conversed: "If I know my bad Sci-Fi Villains, we should be seeing a Mook in a suit any second now."
  • Deconstructed:
    • Constantly being revealed as being a man in a suit enrages and motivates Zadax, so he builds a much more deadly and powerful mecha, which destroys the town.
    • Zadax nearly suffocates inside the suit due to lack of air during the chase sequence. Faye is forced to pause it to cut him out and save him.
  • Reconstructed:
    • After a long and arduous battle, the heroes split open the head of the machine, to reveal Zadax controlling its every movement.
    • Whether he's a monster or just some human crook in a suit, Zadax is still willing to do some pretty awful things (probably even violent things) to achieve his goal. He is an evil that must be stopped.
    • Zadax chalks up the experience to being another evil plan gone wrong.

I, the dreaded Blood Dragon who is not Lord Zadax, dare you to go back to "Scooby-Doo" Hoax! note
