Basic Trope: Surgery done in non-hospital locations, usually due to urgency.

  • Straight: Bob has an emergency medical issue while in a car, and Alice has to perform surgery on him in the car with limited tools.
  • Exaggerated: Alice, who is completely unqualified, does brain surgery on Bob.
  • Downplayed: Alice has some medical training, and the issue Bob is having is fairly minor (such as getting a tooth pulled).
    • Alice specifically does the least invasive and most necessary fixes to keep Bob alive, trying to leave as few "quick and dirty fixes" as possible for better equipped surgeons to fix properly.
  • Justified:
    • Alice has some medical qualifications.
    • There are no hospitals nearby.
    • It was pretty much either this, or Bob dying.
    • Bob is against going to a hospital for personal reasons.
  • Inverted: A simple check up is performed in the operating room of a hospital.
  • Subverted: Alice seems like she is going to do this, but she takes Bob to the hospital instead.
  • Double Subverted: However, the hospital is unavailable for whatever reason, so she is forced to do it herself.
  • Parodied: ???
  • Zig-Zagged: ???
  • Averted: Nobody has to do surgery in non-hospital locations.
  • Enforced: Rule of Drama
  • Lampshaded: ???
  • Invoked: ???
  • Exploited: ???
  • Defied: Alice decides that no matter what, she will get Bob to a proper hospital.
  • Discussed: ???
  • Conversed: ???
  • Deconstructed: Bob dies (or at the very least gets injured/sick) as a result of this, due to a variety of factors including poor sanitation and lack of medical experience.
  • Reconstructed: Even if Bob survives he suffers disfiguring and lasting damage both physical and psychological from the experience, including limited anesthesic and sedation options. The outcome is specifically noted as worse than a direct hospital rush but noted to be better than the actually available alternative.
