Basic Trope: A teaching setup, where one character does things the wrong way and another does things the right way.
  • Straight: A cartoon shows two characters, Vicky and Charles, going to a theater to watch a movie. Vicky makes a lot of noise and causes a disturbance during the movie for others watching it, while Charles sits quietly and just generally enjoys the movie, and the cartoon encourages the reader to act like Charles.
  • Exaggerated: Vicky crosses the Moral Event Horizon while watching the movie, while Charles commits heroic acts.
  • Downplayed: It's not specifically a Right Way/Wrong Way Pair cartoon, but Charles sits more quietly during the movie than Vicky, and the narration encourages the reader to be like him.
  • Justified: Vicky is younger than Charles and doesn't know how to act in a theater.
  • Inverted: ???
  • Subverted: Charles acts much the same as Vicky, and the narration cuts to this.
Here, we see Vicky watching a movie, and being a right proper jerk about it, too. And here, we see Charles... also being a jerk about it. Don't be like either of them.
  • Double Subverted: The next scene then shows the two walking out of the theater. Vicky slouches and keeps her arms in strange positions, while Charles walks upright and steadily, and the narration encourages the reader to walk like Charles.
  • Parodied:
  • Zig-Zagged: ???
  • Averted: Neither Vicky nor Charles act out in the theater, and the narration doesn't mention anything.
  • Enforced: Vicky and Charles wouldn't normally act like this, but they were offered a very good sum of money to star in a comic.
  • Lampshaded: "I guess I set an example for everyone here today, eh, Vicky? Then again... I guess you set an example, too... of how NOT to act."
  • Invoked: Vicky and Charles are deliberately acting out the trope in order to teach their children how to act in the theater in a memorable way.
  • Exploited: ???
  • Defied: Vicky tries imitating Charles's manner in the theater, so neither of them is noticeably more well-behaved than the other.
  • Discussed: "That man over there is all polite, but his wife is throwing a fit! Let's take her as an example of what not to do."
  • Conversed: "This comic always shows Charles as the good guy, and Vicky as the bad guy! So much for shades of grey..."
  • Deconstructed: Vicky's "hilarious" ways of doing things the wrong way get her and Charles into trouble, and both of them are ejected from the theater.
