Basic Trope: A character is killed and reborn in another world.

  • Straight: Unlucky Everydude Bob is hit by a car and reborn in a Medieval European Fantasy.
  • Exaggerated: Then he drowns and is reborn in a Wuxia-inspired world, then he is executed and reborn in an Ancient Grome-inspired world, then he falls off a cliff and is reborn in a Steampunk world, then he is shot and reborn in a Mayincatec-inspired world...
  • Downplayed: Bob dies, and is reborn in a world where rabbits are called Smeerps. Nothing else is different.
  • Justified: The plot is an isekai story.
  • Inverted: Elfia dies and is reborn into this world.
  • Subverted: Bob wakes up after being hit on the head to find himself surrounded by people in clothes from Ye Goode Olde Days. It turns out that he just got knocked out at a renaissance fair.
  • Double Subverted: The aforementioned renaissance fair is on a different planet.
  • Parodied: Bob does not want to be in a Medieval European Fantasy, so he kills himself repeatedly until he ends up in a world that he likes.
  • Zig Zagged: Bob wakes up after being hit on the head to find himself surrounded by people in clothes from Ye Goode Olde Days. It turns out that he just got knocked out at a renaissance fair. But the aforementioned renaissance fair is on a different planet. But he was drugged during a party and it was just his imagination. One day later he actually dies and is reborn into a magical world, still thinking it is just his imagination.
  • Averted: Bob stays dead.
  • Enforced: "We need Bob to be relatable to our target audience. Let's make him a guy from this time who ends up in our setting."
  • Lampshaded: "Oh, great. I'm dead. Time to save the elves from the Demon King, or something like that."
  • Invoked: ???
  • Exploited: The other characters know that Bob is from another world, and his knowledge of things that don't exist in his new world can be reapplied to be useful in this new one.
  • Defied: Bob is given a choice when he dies, to be reincarnated in the same world or a different one. He chooses to be reincarnated in the same world, and lives a normal life.
  • Discussed: ???
  • Conversed: ???
  • Implied: In a story set in an average Medieval European Fantasy setting, Bob sometimes mentions smartphones, or references modern media.
  • Deconstructed: Bob is reincarnated as a newborn baby, with all the memories of his past life. However, due to his brain not being able to handle memories at such an early age, he forgets a good deal of who he was before. This results in him growing up with vague memories of being somebody else, and strange memories that don't make sense.
  • Reconstructed: Bob begins a quest in his new world to try and find out why he has a few strange memories. Eventually, he rediscovers his past life.
  • Played For Laughs: ???
  • Played For Drama: Bob is reincarnated with the wounds that killed him, and must get treatment for them as soon as possible. He also experiences culture shock and misses his home and family.
