Basic Trope: A film director who is very egotistical, controlling, and mean to his actors.

  • Straight: Bob is a film director, and he insists everything is just so. He yells at the crew, and throws things at the actors.
  • Exaggerated: Bob actually beats up his actors over looking a little scruffy.
  • Downplayed: When an actor mouths off at Bob for being made to do a twenty-third take of a scene, the latter calmly delivers a scathing "The Reason You Suck" Speech.
  • Justified:
  • Inverted:
    • Bob is a polite, friendly, Nice Guy. Actors love working with him, and he mainly does what the studio and/or his more experienced co-workers say.
    • Alice is an absolute nightmare of an actress who thinks it's all about her and constantly conflicts with every director she's working with.
  • Subverted: Bob yells at an actor, but then apologizes and admits the actor was right.
  • Double Subverted: ...And then proceeds to get into other conflicts with the cast and crew, which he handles less well.
  • Parodied:
  • Zig Zagged: Bob's personality varies depending on the film.
  • Averted: Bob is neither an especially mean nor especially nice director.
  • Enforced: The director is poking fun at himself.
  • Lampshaded: "It's a wonder anyone lets him make movies."
  • Invoked: A producer suggests Bob act like this in order to make his cast and crew work harder.
  • Exploited: A rival director manages to steal Bob's Production Posse by promising them better treatment.
  • Defied:
    • Bob practices anger management to avoid acting like this.
    • The producers refuse to hire ill-tempered directors.
  • Discussed: ???
  • Conversed: ???
  • Implied: Alice is originally very excited to work with Bob, but hated the experience after the film comes out.
  • Deconstructed: No one wants to work with Bob anymore, and his films never get made.
  • Reconstructed: Bob acts demanding for effect. Those who can handle the early issues find he is actually a good boss under all the theatrics.
  • Played For Drama: Bob plays horrifying mind games with his cast for Enforced Method Acting, and sexually assaults several actresses.
  • Played For Horror: Bob's productions are legendary cases of Fatal Method Acting, either because he is the kind of jerk who orders scenes to be made without any regard for safety (and they always end in fatal accidents) or because he is a Serial Killer on the side. As for how the heck he continues getting work, he either has a Deal with the Devil (the deaths being his literal sacrifices on the altar of glory) or he has made perfectly clear to Horrible Hollywood that he is not a man you want as an enemy.
