Basic Trope: A story arc is revived after being forgotten about.

  • Straight: In Alice and Bob, a story arc about Alice's parents is quickly aborted in Season 1. However, this story arc is later expanded upon in Season 3.
  • Exaggerrated: Un-Canceled
  • Downplayed: The Bus Came Back
  • Justified: The trace went cold in season 1, but information found in season 3 caused it to go hot again.note
  • Inverted: ???
  • Subverted: ???
  • Double Subverted ???
  • Parodied: ???
  • Zig-Zagged: ???
  • Averted: No Aborted Arc is ever revived.
  • Enforced:
    • The authors forgot about the arc, but their editor or producer told them to wrap it up.
    • The executives wanted the Police Procedural to have an episode about a cold case, so the writers decided to take an aborted background arc from season 1 to not have to spend too much time on establishing backstory.
    • The arc depended on a rescinded prior to (intended) completion crossover license that either just got renewed or has been rendered unnecessary due to expiration of copyright.
  • Lampshaded: A character comments when an arc suddenly appears again that they thought they'd never resolve it.
  • Invoked: ???
  • Exploited: ???
  • Defied: ???
  • Discussed: ???
  • Conversed: "Why do the Alice and Bob authors keep placing forgotten story arcs into the middle of later seasons?"
