Basic Trope: Discrimination is literally reversed not only in history and timelines, but in a different reality.

  • Straight:
    • In an alternate universe, dark-skinned people have been tremendously respected much sooner, but light-skinned people have to go through discrimination and ofter hardships from the majority of that alternate world to gain equal respect.
    • In an alternate world, that reality's equivalent of Martin Luther King Jr. is a supporter of racial equality, and believes white or light-skinned people should be given equal respect, and should be never judged by the color of their skin.
  • Exaggerated:
    • Not only black people have suffered absolutely no discrimination, but any light-skinned person will receive immediate discrimination if they so much as speak to any of them. Inverted Unfortunate Implications (such as white face) ensues.invoked
    • In an alternate reality, every group goes through an inverted treatment like this.
    • The LGBC exist instead of LGBT in the alternate universe, and the overwhelming majority are genuinely transgender. The actual cisgender population on the other hand, are much fewer in numbers, and they suffer from disproportionate persecution, oppression, and violence.
  • Downplayed: It wasn't a complete inversion, so there's one side with black people suffering less bigotry, but the white people suffered equally.
  • Justified: Not all worlds suffer the same kind or level of bigotry. So understandably, there would be one world where the other way around can happen, and can be just as severe or even more severe than the original.
  • Inverted: All of the Other Reindeer
  • Subverted:
    • At first, it would seen the bigotry would be the other way around, then it's the same untwisted event that you see in everyday life.
    • People are respectful towards the dark skinned Alice and downright violent towards the light skinned Bob - it turns out the real reason for the reaction is torso-leg ratio.
  • Double Subverted:
    • ...Only to be as exactly inverse as it is.
    • The nasty encounter made it clear that while discrimination does exist, it can be just as bad as the normal one.
  • Parodied: Two groups of people don't like the other two groups of people who enjoy cake and bacon, respectively. They then comically exclude each other, but no serious violence was involved.
  • Zig Zagged: Discrimination occurs based largely against fairer hair color alone resulting in some dynamics remaining the same and others changing.
  • Averted:
    • Nobody is specifically discriminated in the flip.
    • The new discrimination is based upon something with no major real life precedent.
  • Enforced:
    • The author wants to show people how equally discriminatory it would be if they were to see the specific group being oppressed and being killed in genocides. For example, 60,000,000 Germans being killed in World War II, as opposed to the original.
    • "Let's show the viewers, in and out-of-universe how would they like it when they suffered in a world where the inverted others suffered even worse hardship than what the previous group suffered on the main Earth."
  • Lampshaded: "Man! This is messed up! So this is what really would happen if oppressed group A becomes persecution group B."
  • Invoked: A Malcolm Xerox overthrows the government of a major nation and establishes a black supremacist government.
  • Exploited: A racist from a country similar to those in real life uses this country's existence as "proof" that racism against dark-skinned people is not real.
  • Defied: "Hey! Just because we live in this universe, doesn't mean we'll keep discriminating each other. Screw this!"
  • Discussed: ???
  • Conversed: ???
  • Implied: The white heroes briefly pass through this universe, but when they are there, the posters are all of black people, and several old, well-dressed black people give them dirty looks for some reason.
  • Played For Laughs: High society in this universe listens to hip-hop while complaining about the "thugs" who listen to country music.
