Basic Trope: It turns grey and rainy when someone dies.

- Exaggerated: Whenever someone so much as steps on a bug, it pours with rain.
- Downplayed: It was grey already but it started raining, or it was rainy already but the rain got heavier, or it was only a small sun shower.

- Just a coincidence.
- Alice has weather powers, and when she died she stopped controlling the weather so it rained.

- When Alice is born, the sun comes out.
- When Alice dies, the sun comes out.
- When Alice is born, it rains.
- Subverted: It turns out Alice was Faking the Dead but it's still raining.
- Double Subverted: Because a Red Shirt died.
- Parodied: Alice is unconscious. It's raining, so Bob takes it for granted she's dead despite the doctor saying she's still alive.
- Averted:
- It never rains on a Character Death.
- Everyone Lives.
- Zigzagged: Alice gets hurt and falls over and then it clouds over, then she closes her eyes and it rains and then the doctor says she's breathing but it's still raining and she wakes up and it's a sun shower, and then she makes a full recovery and it's sunny and then it's a thunderstorm when she gets a splinter and Bob angrily says "Can't the weather make up its mind?! She's fine now!"
- Enforced: This work has lots of symbolism, or there is some kind of fantasy thing controlling the weather.
- Lampshaded: "Alice died and now it's raining??!! Can things get any worse?"

- The Weather Fairy decides to make it rain when she sees someone die.

- If said weather fairy exists, she could refuse to make it rain at a person's death. If there is no such entity or being, then it can't really be defied unless someone gets rid of everyone's mortality.
- Discussed: Bob and Charlie have a conversation on "weather" or not Alice is really dead, based on the rain.
