Playing With / Palate Propping

• Basic Trope: Using some long cylindrical object to keep a predator's jaws open so you can escape it.
• Straight: Bob is about to be swallowed whole by a giant croc, but he uses a wooden oar nearby to prop its jaws open to escape.
• Justified:
  • Even if the oar breaks, the subsequent splintering of the oar will give the crocodile a moment of agony to distract it from Bob.
• Inverted: Bob narrowly avoids being swallowed by a giant croc, and he uses his hands to keep its jaws closed.
