Basic Trope: Two characters being together or mistaken for a couple leads to exaggerated reactions from everyone.
- Straight: Hiro is seen hugging his childhood friend Rei, this blows up, and her friends, who have been rooting for the two, cry and scream in joy.

- Hiro winks at his friend Rei once in a public place and everyone faints from shock, reporters start taking photos of the two, and it ends up on the news. This causes the band Hiro is in to disband.
- Or every Hiro fangirl cries so hard their tears make a flood, wears black as if attending a funeral, and all contemplate ending their lives.
- Downplayed:
- Only Rei's close friends and family are invested in her love life, and they throw a small party over this development.
- Hiro's friends do a Celebratory Body Tossing with him and talk about this for about 15 minutes.
- Justified:
- Hiro is an Idol Singer which means everyone would inevitably be invested in his love life.
- Rei is a princess and thus the nation is so interested in her romantic suitor choices and overall romantic developments.
- Inverted: Rei and Hiro hold an engagement party and when they break the news everyone reacts with "Okay and?" and moves on.
- Subverted: Just when it looks like Rei's family is about to scream and faint in happiness, they just say "congrats, lovebirds" instead and talk about something else.
- Double Subverted: ...But the next day they hold a very big, fancy party for the couple.
- Parodied: ???
- Zig-Zagged: Sometimes two characters doing an indirect kiss elicit over-the-top reactions from everyone, and other times two different characters making out passionately in front of a group barely gets any reaction out of anyone.
- Averted: Hiro and Rei finally get together, and their friends tease them a little over taking so long and that's it. No one overreacts.
- Enforced: "We need to add some comedy to this series, so let's have everyone act in an extremely dramatic way over Rei and Hiro's relationship because exaggerations are always hilarious."
- Lampshaded: "Damn, you'd think Hiro and Rei had sex in public the way everyone's losing their mind over them merely holding hands."
- Invoked: Hiro wants to increase the popularity of his band so he purposely does a romantic gesture for Rei where Paparazzi would see this and capture the whole thing and the scandal blows up and gets the band more publicity as expected because there's No Such Thing as Bad Publicity after all.
- Exploited: ???
- Defied: No one overreacts, and they react moderately lest they'd be seen as weird, cringy, or childish by others.
- Discussed: "If Hiro and Rei's friends where in a hammy contest they'd win because there's no way them using the same umbrella would trigger such a strong reaction."
- Conversed: "Man, the trope where characters act like dating is some life or death matter is so hilarious. Their lines compete with each other for hamminess."
- Played for drama: Rei gets beaten up by some thugs Hiro's crazy fans hired to hurt her as a warning to not involve herself with him or even think of being with him just because he touched her cheek once. This gives Rei trauma and anxiety.
- Implied: After Rei and Hiro get a Relationship Upgrade, the next day they're cleaning their shared apartment from confetti, red plastic cups, removing balloons, decorations, and banners that spell out "Hiro ♥ Rei", etc.
