Basic Trope: A Human Alien or member of a Human Subspecies approaches a human requesting (Or demanding) they repopulate their race.
- Straight: Bob is approached by Zendria, a martian female who's species was devastated by a plague that killed all the males and 97% of the females, asking for him to come to Mars and father their children for them.
- Exaggerated:
- After a virus killed all the martian males, Bob is abducted by Zendria's militia, imprisoned, and forced to seed offspring for all or Mars's women whether he likes to or not.
- With all the males gone, Mars tries to locate the "Perfect" human male to repopulate the species. Narrowing down race, diet, preferences, political leaning, favorite color...
- Zendria is the Sole Survivor of the martian race who travels to earth, and attempts to mother as many children as possible.

- Human Martian colonies didn't start with a large enough gene pool to be self-sufficent and earth went Post Apocalyptic on them. Thus they need to use their to earth Lost Technology to recruit people to join and grow their population.
- Astronaut Bob was the only male anything within reach of Zendria's ship.
- Inverted: Zendria approaches Bob requesting that he kill all martians, starting with her, to solve their overpopulation issue.
- Subverted: Zendria approaches Bob in Earth, gets intimate with him, but in reality she's fleeing an oppressive Martian government, and her friends merely want a safe home.
- Zendria needs Bob's help to retrieve a copy of Martian genome database from Area 51. They aren't even biologically compatible.

- Invoked: The author wanted to deconstruct the sexual desire most men have with the metaphor of having to repopulate mars, and explore all the negative and tiring aspects of outlandish sexual fantasizes, multiple sexual partners, and fathering multiple children.
- Exploited: Becoming the only source of children, Bob exploits this in order to gain political power and influence in Mars, and later, the universe.
- Defied: Multiple governments personally intervene to prevents Bob from visiting Mars, instead providing samples from their own sperm banks to Mars.

- Deconstructed: Bob is quick to discover that this is hopeless. He cannot be expected to provide children for every single martian, and doing so is actually putting a physical toll on him. To boot, even if more advanced methods are used like sperm donation, all new members of the species are going to be his children, meaning when they decide to mate his grandchildren will result from incest, which will immediately cripple and destroy the species.
- Reconstructed:
- The genetic variation problem is addressed by Zendria being only one of several hundred Martian females who were sent to find a mate each across the Earth. The Depopulation Bomb that wiped out most of the Martian population left the Martian society's infrastructure and resources more or less intact — perhaps there's a lot of automation in their economy — and the newborn Martians will be raised with those resources so Bob won't have to provide that himself. And it turns out Zendria herself has fallen in love with Bob romantically after some time and Bob reciprocates, so even beyond the logistics neither of them wants to leave the other.
- In Martian society, after the catastrophe that killed Martian males, polygamy is accepted on a temporary basis due to the extreme situation in order to prevent the gene pool from become unacceptably inbred.
- Gender Inverted: Alice is approached by Kor-Viake, a martian male whose species was devastated by a plague that killed all the females and 97% of the males, asking for her to come to Mars and provide egg samples they can use to repopulate their species, even birthing some children for them.
