Basic Trope: A song doesn't feature the title in its lyrics.

  • Straight: Alice records a song titled "Pizza Boar". While the song is clearly about a wild pig that likes an Italian dish consisting of bread, tomato sauce, and mozarella cheese, the words "pizza" and "boar" do not appear in the lyrics.
  • Exaggerated: Not only do the words "pizza" and "boar" not appear in the lyrics to "Pizza Boar", the song has nothing to do with pizza or boars.
  • Downplayed: "Pizza" and "boar" are mentioned in the lyrics, but only once each and not together.
  • Justified:
    • The title was set in stone before Alice wrote the song, but she couldn't work the title into the lyrics.
    • The producer of Alice's album changes the title of the song to "Pizza Boar" without seeing if it's in the lyrics.
    • Pizza Boar's lyrics are Cantonese.
  • Inverted: The lyrics to "Pizza Boar" are nothing but the words "pizza boar" repeated ad nauseum.
  • Subverted: Halfway through the song comes a line that doesn't sound like it will include the title due to its context, but Alice outright says "pizza boar".
  • Double Subverted: But the context of the rest of the line establishes that she actually says "Pete's a bore." The rest of the song goes by without her saying "pizza boar".
  • Parodied: Alice teasingly sings various other combinations of Italian foods and wild pigs ("lasagna razorback", "calzone warthog") when she should be singing "pizza boar".
  • Zig-Zagged: Alice repeatedly sings the words "pizza" and "boar" throughout "Pizza Boar", but not together. Every time she teases the title appearing in the lyrics, there's a Last-Second Word Swap.
  • Averted: Alice sings the words "pizza boar" at regular intervals.
  • Enforced: The issues of Alice not featuring the title of "Pizza Boar" in the lyrics were based on the real life songwriter having trouble with working the title into the lyrics.
  • Lampshaded: The bridge:
But he's not giving up that pepperoni and cheese.
There's a better chance of the title being sung by me.
  • Invoked: Alice originally had the words "pizza boar" in the song, but later thought it sounded silly and removed them.
  • Exploited: Bob records an unauthorized cover of "Pizza Boar", but titles it "He's The Wildest" after a line heard frequently enough to be mistaken for the title. He gets away with it for a while because the different title misleads people into thinking it's a different song.
  • Defied: Alice originally omitted the words "pizza boar" from the lyrics, but then realized that might make the song hard to identify, so she added a part where she does sing the title.
  • Discussed: "I hear Alice is coming out with a follow-up to 'Pizza Boar'. I wonder if the title will actually appear in this one."
  • Conversed: "I find it curious when a song omits the title from the lyrics. Some of them are pretty good like "Bohemian Rhapsody", "Smells Like Teen Spirit", "Pizza Boar". Is that an artistic thing?"
