Basic Trope: A character is naked when they are brought Back from the Dead to life.

  • Straight: Bob is resurrected after he got killed, but he doesn't have any clothes on.
  • Exaggerated:
    • Many people who have died are resurrected in the nude.
    • Bob is resurrected after he gets killed ... as a skeleton without skin or flesh, never mind clothing.
  • Downplayed: Bob comes back to life in his underwear.
  • Justified:
    • The method used to bring Bob back to life could only restore organic matter and therefore had no effect on clothing.
    • Bob died naked in the first place.
    • The mortician had to remove his clothing in the process of making him presentable and didn't have time to reclothe him.
  • Inverted:
    • Bob died without any clothes on, but is fully clothed once resurrected.
    • Bob is naked and somehow has clothes on after being killed.
  • Subverted: Bob is naked at first, but his clothes materialize not long after.
  • Double Subverted: His newly generated clothes end up destroyed or lost, leaving him naked until he can be properly dressed the mundane way.
  • Parodied: Bob doesn't immediately notice he's naked.
  • Zig-Zagged:
    • There are multiple methods of resurrecting dead people in the story, and some methods make it possible to restore the dead person's clothes while some can only bring the person back naked.
    • Bob and Carol were brought back to life naked, whereas David and Erica were brought back clothed, even though Alice resurrected them all and she used the same method on each of them.
    • Bob comes back to life naked, then is clothed, then he loses his shirt, then he gets it back albeit at the expense of his pants, and so on.
  • Averted: Everyone brought back to life has clothes on once resurrected.
  • Enforced: The creators have resurrection work this way as a form of Fanservice.
  • Lampshaded: "I am grateful for you guys bringing me back, but I really wish you'd have prepared me some clothes first."
  • Invoked: Bob's friends deliberately choose a method of resurrection that will leave Bob in the nude as a prank.
  • Exploited: Bob thinks he has died and has awoken in the afterlife, so Alice acts like his guardian angel who must explain everything new to him. This works because the world has changed dramatically during Bob's period of death.
  • Defied:
    • Bob's friends refuse to bring him back to life or specifically use a method of resurrection where he won't be naked once brought back to life.
    • Bob's corpse is dressed before the resurrection is done.
  • Discussed: "It'd be really awkward if Bob came back to life au naturel."
  • Conversed: "How come in some works, the resurrection procedure does nothing about the dead person's lack of clothes?"
  • Implied: Bob is resurrected off-screen and he comments on how the incident was breezy and humiliating.
  • Played for Laughs: No one cares to do anything about Bob's nudity once he's brought back to life.
  • Played for Drama: Bob is naked because the person who resurrected him is planning to rape him.
  • Deconstructed: Bob was resurrected in a cold or violent milieu where he would need protective clothing just to stay alive, so Alice's hard work in reviving him was All for Nothing.
  • Reconstructed: Alice was aware of these pitfalls and arranged to bring Bob back in a warm, peaceful setting.

Back to Naked on Revival. Please bring some pants for the guy we're trying to bring back to life.
