Basic Trope: a series-length Story Arc, which can allow for telling little one-off adventures while at the same time telling a much larger story.
- Straight: In the series "The Chronicles of Tropeville", the world and plot are built up over the course of the series' run.
- Exaggerated: Every new episode of the series introduces new characters, locations, or plot threads. It gets to the point where missing one episode could mean losing the plot.
- Downplayed: The setting is only expanded on every few episodes, but the things that are added aren't forgotten.
- Justified: The series follows an explorer who's life goal is to chart the world.
- Inverted: The world always goes back to the way it was by the time the episode wraps up
- Subverted: Though the series takes place in a sprawling world, it follows Charlie, his sister Alice, and their very static group of friends through their day to day lives in their home town...
- Double Subverted: ... Until one episode, Alice is shot dead, and the rest of the series follows him travelling across the world for her killer...
- Zig Zagged: ... But when he finds him, it's revealed he was a policeman who killed Alice in a misfire and only kept it a secret to keep his job. Charlie returns home with a slightly sadder outlook on life. But then it's revealed the gun was tampered with as part of a mob plot, and Alice wasn't the intended target. Charlie makes it his quest to dismantle the gang.
