Basic Trope: A band with an intentionally misspelled name.
- Straight: A band called "Da Tygerz".
- Exaggerated:
- A band called "Thdah Tyigreizs".
- Not only is the band name misspelled, but so are many of their song and album titles.
- Downplayed:
- A band called "The Tïgers".
- The band is properly titled "The Tigers", but they're often stylized as "Da Tygerz".
- The band is European, but uses the American spelling of "Color" in its band name.
- Justified:
- "Da Brunswick Tygerz" is named after the local baseball-team "The Brunswick Tigers" but doesn't want to infringe on their trademark(s).
- "The Tigers" is too generic to be trademarked, but they can trademark "Da Tygerz".
- Inverted: A band spells every word in its name correctly, even the ones that are most commonly misspelled.
- Subverted: The band is called "Da Tygerz" in its early days, but this turns out to be Early-Installment Weirdness because it eventually changes its name to the correct spelling of "The Tigers".
- Double Subverted: But it eventually changes back.
- Parodied:
- The band is called "Tgjahkj FGH Gghakjgka", pronounced "The Tigers".
- The band is called "Myspeld Rökband".
- The band name is misspelled because the members really don't know how to spell.
- The band name is stylized in a way very similar to how a kid would write in crayon.
- Zig-Zagged: Sometimes the band spells its name correctly, and sometimes they don't.
- Averted: The band's name is spelled correctly.
- Enforced:
- There's already a band called The Tigers. "Da Tygerz" decide to make this their name to avoid confusion or copyright infringement.
- It's more memorable to have the name misspelled.
- Lampshaded: Bob the frontman says, "Yes, we misspelled our name. No, we're not changing it. Everybody knows us as Da Tygerz now."
- Invoked: Rule of Cool.
