Basic Trope: A serial work that isn't normally a musical becomes one for a single installment.

  • Straight: Alice and Bob doesn't normally feature musical numbers, but one episode does.
  • Exaggerated:
  • Downplayed: Alice and Bob is normally a musical, but whereas most episodes only feature a single number, one episode has multiple.
  • Justified:
  • Inverted: Alice and Bob is normally a musical, but one episode features no numbers at all.
  • Subverted: One episode opens with a musical number... which is soon interrupted. None of the rest of the episode is like this.
  • Double Subverted: ...until later on, when the singing suddenly resumes.
