Basic Trope: A character kills one or more characters and then kills themselves.

  • Straight: Seth kills Reese and then kills himself.
  • Exaggerated: Seth kills the entire human race and then kills himself.
  • Downplayed:
    • Seth injures Reese, and then breaks his own leg.
    • Seth guns down Reese in front of his bodyguards, who promptly gun him down.
    • Seth hires a hitman to kill a number of people, and adds himself to the list.
    • Seth pushing Reese of a balcony was not intentional, but he then throws himself off after in a fit of guilt.
    • Seth chooses not to seek treatment for the wounds Reese inflicted while fighting back.
  • Justified:
    • Seth wants to avoid the consequences of his murder.
    • Seth was on a quest to avenge Janice, who was killed by Reese, but after killing him, he realizes that revenge left him unsatisfied.
    • Seth was planning suicide, but decided to pull a Taking You with Me for whatever grudge he may have.
    • Seth was a hit man hired by someone who wants to remain unknown. By killing himself, he reduces the chances of Reese's murder being traced back to the guy who wanted him dead.
    • Seth killed Reese in a fit of rage. After coming back to his senses and seeing what he has done, he kills himself out of guilt.
  • Inverted:
    • Seth, a skeletal necromancer, revives Reese, and then revives himself.
    • Seth, being very badly wounded, gets over his injuries and pulls himself and Reese, his comrade who was barely alive as well, to safety.
  • Subverted:
    • Seth kills Reese, and then points his gun at himself, and throws it on the floor, deciding he cannot self-terminate.
    • Seth stabs himself non fatally, to make himself look like a fellow victim.
  • Double Subverted:
    • Upon returning home, he goes up to the attic, and jumps out the window.
    • Deciding he can't kill himself, instead he commits Suicide by Cop.
    • When Seth is sentenced to death, he does not contest the verdict, and requests that be carried out shortly.
