Basic Trope: Two characters are similar in meaningful ways.
- Straight: Alice and Bob both want to save the world from the evil overlord because he destroyed their home villages.
- Exaggerated: Alice and Bob are clones raised as twins and mind-meld.
- Justified:
- Alice and Bob mirror each other because they were originally the same person: Albys. Albys' soul was split into two beings who now go by Alice and Bob.
- Anguish is Alice's Enemy Without. She came from Alice's mind and closely mirrors her in terms of personality and fighting style while also serving as an Evil Twin.
- Inverted: Alice and Bob have almost nothing in common at all. See Foil.
- Subverted:
- Alice and Bob seem very similar, but as the story progresses, even the similarities they seemed to have at the beginning turn out not to be true.
- Bob seems suspiciously similar to Alice... and they've never been seen in the same place at the same time. He's revealed to be Alice pulling a Sweet Polly Oliver.
- Double Subverted: Alice and Bob seem to be very similar at first, but it becomes evident they are very different, and these differences make them the same.
- Parodied: Alice and Bob appear in cut scenes that show them doing the exact same activities completely independently of each other while a laugh track plays.
- Zig-Zagged: Alice and Bob start undergoing Divergent Character Evolution, but then they converge to the point of becoming The Dividual. Then they realize this and start working to differentiate themselves from each other again.
- Averted: Most characters are not mirrors of each other, therefore this trope cannot be averted.
- Enforced: Alice and Bob were designed as two very different characters, but the executive producer wanted to save budget and had them repeat the same backstory.
- Lampshaded: Alice comments on how odd it is to have so much in common with Bob.
- Invoked: Alice tells Bob they really have more in common than he thinks. (See "Not So Different" Remark).
- Exploited: Alice can foil Bob's plans because they are the exact same plans she would have made.
