Basic Trope: A Stock Shout-Out to King Kong, featuring a Kaiju-sized creature climbing to the top of a tall building. Often features the creature grabbing a woman before climbing to the top.
- Straight: King Kaiju is just about to finish his rampage on the city. He grabs Alice and climbs on top of the tallest building.
- Exaggerated:
- King Kaiju follows the ending of King Kong very accurately.
- There are a whole bunch of monsters loose in the city, and they all do a climb like this one.
- Downplayed:
- King Kaiju plays out the scenario fairly well, though rather than a tall building he climbs on top of a place such as the school.
- King Kaiju is fairly small for a kaiju (probably about the size of a bear), but he plays out the situation anyway.
- Justified:
- King Kaiju is Genre Savvy; if he's a giant monster wreaking havoc on the city, he might as well imitate the climb. And snag himself a cute girl in the process.
- The towers at West/Park Avenue blocks 11 to 13 are closest in size and color to the trees King Kaiju normally dwells in that the city has to offer.
- Inverted:
- Alice grabs King Kaiju and climbs to the top of a building.
- King Kaiju descends from a building in this matter.
- Gender Inverted: Queen Kaiju carries Bob up a building.
- Subverted: King Kaiju is about to climb a tall building, but decides not to.
- Double Subverted: Because it's not tall enough. He sees the tallest building around and climbs on top of that one.
- Parodied: ???
- Zig-Zagged: ???
- Averted: There are no giant monsters that climb buildings.
- Enforced: Stock Parodies
- Lampshaded: "What is it with giant apes, and carrying girls to the top of buildings?"
- Invoked: King Kaiju gets sidetracked from his rampage by Alice's beauty, and want to keep her to himself.
- Exploited: King Kaiju is supposed to be captured, and now that he's climbed to the top of the tallest building around, the city officials are able to capture him.
- Defied: King Kaiju realizes that too many other giant monsters climb tall buildings after rampaging through the city, and decides to do something more unique.
- Discussed:Alice: "Uh, Mr. King Kaiju, sir? I hate to interrupt your climb, but could you please take me back down? I'm afraid of heights!"
- Conversed: "I wonder why the giant monsters climb tall buildings."
- Deconstructed:
- The building can't support his weight, and King Kaiju ends up falling.
- Climbing on the tallest building around makes King Kaiju an easy target.
- Reconstructed: King Kaiju is able to manipulate his own weight.
