Basic Trope: The adorable, lovable character gets killed.
- Straight: Bella has an adorable, sweet son named Andre who loves to pick flowers and is nice to everyone he meets. He gets killed.
- Exaggerated:
- Along with Andre, Bella has 3 other kids: Carly, Desmond and Elli. They are angels on earth and are loved by all, along with being super-innocent. All three are brutally murdered with gratuitous gorn.
- All likable characters are killed off. The story ends with only complete monsters alive.
- Downplayed: Andre's a nice kid, and he gets badly injured but not killed.
- Justified:
- The villains want to hurt Bella and the other characters as much as possible, so they kill Andre to drive her insane with grief.
- Andre is the weakest of the villain's targets, and as such couldn't defend himself and got killed.
- Inverted: Every cutie character survives in a terrible apocalypse.
- Subverted:
- Everyone thinks Andre is dead, but turns out his father Fred just abducted him to keep him away from the danger that Bella couldn't protect him from.
- Turns out, Andre was actually a cruel child who bullied all the other kids.
- Double Subverted:
- ...but then we learn that Fred killed him anyway.
- ...but then we learn that the other kids are lying and also the villain's henchmen.
- Zig Zagged:
- BUT, Fred only pretended to kill him to throw the other characters off his trail.
- BUT, even though they were lying about Andre being a bully, he was working for the villain and plotting to kill Bella and his siblings.
- Averted: Andre isn't killed.
- Lampshaded: "Andre was the purest, sweetest person I know. Why did he have to die?"
- Discussed: "Aaaand our cutie's dead. I mean, it's sad, but we knew that was going to happen."
- Conversed: "They always kill the cutest characters in these movies. I hate it."
- Played for Drama: Losing Andre drives Bella to depression, and she later commits suicide, leaving Carly, Desmond and Elli on their own to deal with HER death.
- Exploited: Now that Bella's spirit is broken by Andre's death, the villain swoops in to kill her.
- Defied:
- The other characters protect Andre at all costs so they don't lose their cutie.
- The Villain refuses to kill Andre.
