Basic Trope: A child character hates doing their chores.
- Straight: Little Jimmy groans when he has to clean his bedroom.
- Exaggerated: Manchild Bob throws a full blown Temper Tantrum when his wife Alice asks him to pick up his dirty laundry.
- Downplayed: Jimmy doesn't mind giving the dog a bath, but hates having to clean his bedroom.
- Justified:
- Jimmy's parents don't want him to grow up lazy and entitled, so they give him reasonable chores like cleaning his room or doing dishes. However, Jimmy is naturally lazy.
- Jimmy is often called away to do chores at inopportune times.
- Inverted: Jimmy hates not having any chores to do.
- Subverted: Jimmy does his chores without complaint.
- Zig Zagged: Jimmy hates doing 'girly' chores like cleaning his bedroom or doing dishes/laundry with mom, but he has no problem mowing the lawn or cleaning the grill with dad.
- Lampshaded: "I know the dog smells bad, Jimmy, but someone has to clean him, and I'm already doing laundry while your father works in the garage."
- Deconstructed: Jimmy doesn’t hate chores: He just has an executive functioning disorder that makes it very hard for him to actually get things done. His parents, who don’t know of this stuff yet, just come to the conclusion that he's lazy.
