Basic Trope: A fanfic that gives the characters children.
- Straight: In a fanfiction of The Adventures of Alice and Bob, the author has Alice give birth to, find, or adopt, a baby named Charles for her and Bob to raise.
- Exaggerated: In the fanfic they have twenty children.
- Downplayed: In the fanfic, Alice and Bob babysit Carol's son Dan.
- Justified: Alice and Bob have sex or consider adopting a baby in the final episode of the show.
- Inverted:
- A Dark Fic about Alice and Bob's child dying.
- An Elsewhere Fic in which Alice and Bob are not in the picture, but Charles turns up on a stranger's doorstep.
- Subverted: Alice says "I'm expecting" at the beginning of the fanfiction, but it turns out she is expecting something which is not a baby.
- Double Subverted: She then finds a baby on the doorstep.
- Parodied: In the story, Alice and Bob have Medium Awareness and keep asking "Has the writer really set us up with a baby".
- Averted: There are no children to raise in the fanfic.
- Zigzagged: There's a kid in the fanfiction. Each character gets a turn raising it.
- Enforced: The writer likes shipping Alice and Bob and believes Babies Make Everything Better.
- Lampshaded: "Now we're parents?!!"
- Invoked: Alice and Bob try for a baby at the beginning of the story.
- Exploited: ???
- Defied: The fan-fiction is about Alice refusing to have kids.
- Discussed: "I'm pregnant? Where will the baby sleep? What will it be named? Is it a boy? Is it a girl?"
- Conversed: "Why do so many fan-fiction writers give the characters children?"
- Implied: At the beginning of the fanfiction, Alice and Bob are seen buying diapers.
- Played for Laughs: Bob is The Ace at fighting crimes, but becomes a Bumbling Dad. Alice is also a bit of a Bumbling Mom.
- Played for Drama: The child is in danger and Alice and Bob must save it.
