Basic Trope: A ghost wears the same clothing they were wearing right before they died.
- Straight: Alice died while wearing a T-shirt and jeans, and still wears them when she's a ghost.
- Exaggerated: Every dead character wears the same outfits as ghosts.
- Downplayed:
- Alice wears a similar outfit to the one she wore before she died.
- A zombie (or similar more corporeal undead being) wears the same clothing they did when they died.
- Justified:
- Alice had no time to change clothing before dying (or is for whatever reason unable to change her clothing as a ghost).
- Alice could change, but she just plain likes the outfit she died in. There's a reason she was wearing it at the time, after all.
- Inverted:
- Alice died wearing a T-shirt and jeans. She wears a white dress as a ghost.
- Alice died wearing a T-shirt and jeans. She wears a suit as a ghost.
- Alice died naked. She wears a T-shirt and jeans.
- Subverted: Alice dies, goes to the afterlife, and expects to have to wear a spectral version of what she'd been wearing previously, but he gets to choose from a selection of other garments.
- Double Subverted: ...all of which are either Impossibly Tacky Clothes, Stripperiffic, don't fit her, or a combination of the reasons, so she just sticks with the T-shirt and jeans she was wearing in her last living moments.
- Parodied:
- Alice is forced to wear a ridiculous Halloween costume forever because he died at a costume party.
- Alice is forced to go naked forever because she died in the shower, and is mocked for it by her fellow ghosts and humans.
- Zig-Zagged: ???
- Averted: Ghosts and undead beings can (and often do) change clothing.
- Enforced: ???
- Lampshaded: "I'm tired of wearing the same thing as a ghost. It's boring."
- Invoked: ???
- Exploited:
- Because Alice wears her signature outfit even as a ghost, it's easy for Bob to recognize her and potentially even bring her Back from the Dead.
- Alice's body was never found, but the state of her ghost's clothes allows supernatural investigators to use it as a clue to help track down her murderer.
- Defied: Alice decides that she will find "ghost clothing" and wear it.
- Discussed: ???
- Conversed: "And I thought this No Budget show hit its Limited Wardrobe capacity with the living characters. Just look at what they do for the ghosts!"
- Implied: Alice died before the story began, and her shirt is riddled with bullet holes when she's first introduced.
