Basic Trope: Society doesn't allow anyone to be their own individual person.
- Straight: Community Metropolis is a city where all of the citizens are forced to be like each other. Anyone who does things differently from the Fellowship will be sentenced to prison for life.
- Exaggerated: The entire human race is a strong Hive Mind, and anyone who thinks differently will be automatically killed on the spot.
- Downplayed: Tropesville is a town with a noticeable collectivist bend. Individuality is frowned upon, and those that deviate from its norms are ostracized by its residents.
- Justified: The leaders of Community Metropolis believe that citizens who think alike will benefit society in the long-run and those who think differently are a hindrance to the best interests of society.
- Inverted: The society enforces citizens to think differently from each other, and anyone who shares the same interests with at least one person is punished harshly.
- Subverted: It turns out that the anti-individual aspect was misunderstood greatly. Community Metropolis's insistence upon the uniform vaccsuits, regimented schedules, and uniform gene-mods was because they were the only combination that could survive the vast bioweapon pandemic - inability to maintain the schedule at all was a sign of infection to quaranteen. Inside the suits the people were very different.
- Double Subverted: However the measure took on a life of its own as even after it is solved the vast majority view any change from it as heresy.
- Parodied: ???
- Zig Zagged: ???
- Averted: Community Metropolis doesn't enforce laws on being collective with society.
- Enforced: The writer uses this trope as the premise of his Dystopian novel.
- Lampshaded: "You have no choice. You must be like the rest of the world, or the leaders of Community Metropolis will find you and punish you!"
- Invoked: ???
- Exploited: ???
- Defied: Any attempt to establish such a collective fails spectacularly because without an individuality to refer to they are incapable of having a norm to define.
- Discussed: ???
- Conversed: ???
