Basic Trope: A character looks consistently, unusually good for their settings or circumstances.

  • Straight: Madison is an explorer who has been on the run from the bad guys for two years. Despite this, her clothes are perfectly intact and spotless, and her face and body are still clean with no visible dirt or what you'd expect.
  • Exaggerated: Madison has been living in a cave for decades, but looks like she just walked out of America's Next Top Model.
  • Downplayed: Madison's clothes have a spot of dirt, but nothing else.
  • Justified:
    • Madison has magic powers that allow her to stay clean.
    • Madison's camp does have a working washing machine and shower.
  • Inverted: Madison lives in a fancy mansion and has all the amenities and beauty supplies she needs. Despite this, her clothes are ripped, her face is covered in scratches and dirt, and she looks like a mess.
  • Subverted: When we first see Madison, she's perfectly clean. Then the Imagine Spot fades away and we see she's appropriately unclean from her escapades.
  • Averted: Madison's appearance perfectly fits what she's been through.
  • Enforced: Hollywood Beauty Standards.
  • Lampshaded: "You're an explorer? What do you even explore, the perfume aisle?"
  • Invoked: Madison does make an effort to shower daily and have some clean clothes ready at all times, so she can always look fresh.
  • Exploited: The bad guys are trying to capture for someone who looks like they've been in hiding for two years without the luxuries of human society. Madison looks much too clean for that, and she uses this to her advantage.
  • Conversed: "Who knew an explorer runaway would have such a high makeup budget?"
