Basic Trope: A character who rallies and inspires others to act.

  • Straight:
    • After Emperor Evulz brings the resistance to their kness, Bob arrives and makes a Rousing Speech that inspires people to fight back Evulz's empire.
    • Alice sees Bob depressed and makes him feel better saying You Are Better Than You Think You Are, recalling a past moment where he saved her life, among many others. This rouses Bob back into action.
  • Exaggerated: The mere thought and mention of Bob's name rallies the troops into action.
  • Downplayed: The resistance see Bob doing a better job fighting back against Mooks under Emperor Evulz and are motivated, but Bob himself doesn't intend to uplift the resistance's spirits.
  • Inverted:
    • Hope Is Scary
    • Emperor Evulz is a Hope Crusher who eliminates his opposition as quickly, efficiently, and thoroughly as possible, giving them no chance to retreat.
  • Subverted: Bob fights off The Empire, but only does so because he wants Revenge for his sister's death.
  • Double Subverted: Bob realizes that he isn't the only suffering under the Empire, so he tries to be a better person, make some friends among the resistance who also suffered and organizes a rally to make everyone fight back against them.
  • Parodied: Every speech Bob makes inspires people, no matter dumb or ridiculous it sounds.
  • Zigzagged: ???
  • Averted: Bob is an Anti-Hero who brutally kills Evulz minions and mocks the resistance for being weak, leaving as he devises unorthodox actions against The Empire.
  • Enforced: Larry, CEO of a corporation dealing with technology, wants to Bob gives a speech the so the former can have a public image.
  • Lampshaded: "Everyone in Trope City was horrible until Bob appeared. Then things got better."
  • Invoked: Bob gives an uplifting speech that influences people to work under so they don't have to despair again.
  • Exploited:
    • Emperor Evulz gives out a speech that things will improve if they agree that both sides sign a treaty that prevents more deaths. Bob and the resistance, though hesitant and war-weary, agrees and complies towards the treaty. Several moments later, however, the resistance gets poisoned by Evulz Mooks thanks to a loophole he capitalized on, to Make It Look Like an Accident. Evulz makes sure to remind Bob of the treaty when the latter calls him out on it.
    • Knowing fully well that the audience will listen to an eloquent, charismatic speech, CEO Larry decides to do so to bolster his popularity, using a deceptive advertisement to sell the story, tricking the public and the audience into using it, knowing that he will make enormous amounts of money
  • Defied: After fighting off Evulz's troops, Bob, having previously watched the resistance's past fights against the Evulz's empire, decides not to do anything to uplift them because of how incompetent their strategies are, such as Attack! Attack! Attack!, Leeroy Jenkins, and lack of stealth.
  • Discussed: Alice: "The public needs someone look up to, Bob. Why don't you do something to uplift them? The Empire's taking up all the resources, and everyone's suffering under them."
  • Conversed: "Hmm, if Bob didn't provide people with hope, the plot would've ended on a more depressing note."
  • Deconstructed:
    • Some people among the public realized that Larry, CEO of Trope Tech corporation, lures his audience into a false sense security and stop them from realizing that he's been cruelly duping people into buying harmful products that removes people's ability to walk and work again.
    • Bob gives one Rousing Speech after another to maintain the resistance's morale. This blinds the resistance into not anything by themselves, and latch on to Bob's methods the most.
  • Reconstructed: ???
