Basic Trope: Heroes relaxing from fighting evil.

  • Straight: Hiro takes a break from fighting crime by staying at a Beach House.
  • Exaggerated:
    • All of Hiro's allies go camping with him.
    • Hiro goes on a two-month cruise.
  • Downplayed:
    • Hiro kicks back and relaxes for the weekend.
    • While camping, Hiro helps his comrades track down Emperor Evulz if he's at large.
  • Justified:
    • Hiro's allies are still able to fight evil as they normally would without Hiro.
    • Hiro has a competent sidekick willing to fill in for him.
    • Fighting crime is stressful, and Hiro needs a vacation.
    • Their bout from last week left Evulz three months in traction, Hiro and his friends have nothing to worry for at least two months and three weeks.
    • Villains Act, Heroes React, so Hiro and his crew spend a lot of time chilling out and relaxing until a threat shows itself.
  • Inverted: Villains Out Shopping.
  • Subverted: Emperor Evulz interrupts Hiro's vacation for the fun of it.
  • Double Subverted: ...but he's there to join in on their camping trip.
  • Parodied: Hiro fights crime for two weeks and vacations for fifty.
  • Zig-Zagged: Hiro relaxes by going camping, only to be called into the line of duty. When he meets with his allies, he is told everything is under control. Hiro tries relaxing again, only for his allies to chase the villain right into the campground. Hiro may or may not fight them, depending on how badly he is needed.
  • Averted: Hiro's time off is never discussed.
  • Enforced: "We need to show Hiro having fun sometimes, otherwise the show will be too serious."
  • Lampshaded: "Being a hero is such hard work. I needed this vacation."
  • Invoked: Hiro looks at travel brochures shown to him by his friends.
  • Exploited: Emperor Evulz tracks down Hiro, and springs into action upon discovering that he's camping.
  • Defied: "Crime never takes a break, and neither should I."
  • Discussed: Hiro asks his friends if they're willing to take a break from all the hard work they're doing fighting Evulz.
  • Conversed: "How long has it been since we've done anything fun here? All we do is save the world."
  • Implied: Hiro dresses in casual clothes and is wearing a large backpack while holding fishing gear.
  • Deconstructed: Hiro comes back from vacation only to discover Emporer Evulz has kidnapped all his friends and threatening world domination.
  • Reconstructed: Hiro concedes that he's been gone for too long, and offers to make it up to his allies as they fight back.
  • Played For Laughs: Hiro announces his intentions to relax by doing things seen by his friends as childish, such as having tea parties.

Back to Heroes Gone Fishing, a lovely retreat from your regular villain-fighting.
