Basic Trope: Spilling and/or drinking blood as part of a sexual experience.
- Straight: Bob the vampire and Alice have sex, and Bob bites her mid-coitus, increasing the pleasure for both parties.
- Exaggerated: Bob bites Alice repeatedly in various places on her body as they passionately make love. Alice is left writhing pleasure, soaked in blood.
- Downplayed: Bob bites Alice, and she squirms in pleasure.
- Justified: Drinking blood is part of a vampire's reproductive process, and so naturally carries a sexual aspect. Alice, meanwhile, is just into that.
- Inverted: Bob loses control of his hunger and bites Alice during foreplay, killing the mood.
- Subverted: Bob and Alice are in a relationship, which involves Alice occasionally sating Bob's hunger, but neither consider it sexual.
- Double Subverted: ...until they feel like experimenting, and realize how much mixing sex and feeding enhances both experiences.
- Parodied: Bob's fangs have a tendency to extend involuntarily whenever Alice is doing something sexy. Alice proudly shows off her bite marks to her girlfriends as if they were hickeys.
- Zig Zagged: Bob is fully capable of feeding without any sexual component, as well as have sex without having to bite his partner.
- Averted: Bob is asexual, and sees Alice purely as a food source.
- Enforced: Let's make this sex scene a little kinkier by having Bob bite Alice in the middle of it.
- Lampshaded: "You think your partners are rough in bed, look what Bob keeps doing to me!"
- Invoked: Bob isn't a vampire, but has a fetish for blood. He cuts Alice's neck with a small razor as they have sex, and licks the running blood.
- Exploited: Bob doesn't have any desire for sex, but is capable of the act. He seeks out women who want the experience of being bitten mid-sex to satisfy his needs while satisfying theirs.
- Defied: Bob fears that the passion of love-making would make him lose control while feeding, and seriously hurt Alice, so he resists the urge to bite her while they're having sex.
- Discussed: "Oh, you've never done biting in the bedroom?" "Alice, biting in the bedroom means getting hickeys, not being drained of life by your partner!"
- Implied: Bob and Alice are shown initiating sex. While Talking in Bed, Alice noticeably has a fresh bite mark on her neck.
- Deconstructed: Bob repeatedly feeding on Alice leaves her constantly anemic and unhealthy, while her addiction to the experience causes her to put her own health at risk for her fix.
- Reconstructed: Alice assures Bob that there's nothing wrong with indulging their kinks as long as they practise safe sex, here meaning giving Alice ample time to recover between bites.
- Played for Drama: Bob feeding on Alice is a thinly veiled metaphor for Bob taking sexual advantage of a young, vulnerable girl.
- Played For Laughs: Bob and Alice are both virgins, and the biting is just as awkward and clumsy as the sex. Alice gets mildly impatient as Bob's bites keep missing her vein, then chides him for spilling her blood on the bedsheets.
