- Enforced:
- Lord Reptilian is made irredeemably evil so that the audience will sympathize with Hiro and Lance's hatred towards him.
- All of Hiro and Lance's previous opponents were sympathetic or cool and became subject to Rooting for the Empire, so Lord Reptilian is written as irredeemable to ensure that people root against him.

- Conversed: ???
- Implied:
- There is no direct word from Bob that states that Lord Reptilian is supposed to be hated, but his actions make it very clear that he's intentionally and explicitly made as unlikeable as possible.
- Lord Reptilian is never shown on-screen, but Hiro and/or Lance talk about him in a hateful tone.
- Deconstructed:
- Played For Laughs: Lord Reptilian is made after Bob's class clown in his primary school time that he considers "annoying", and does nothing but play annoying pranks and occasionally nukes fast food restaurants that got his orders wrong. Nobody takes him seriously.
- Played For Drama:
- Lord Reptilian is designed after an authority figure that you shouldn't trust, and for this reason, he is a horrific Evil Overlord that acts all affable on the outside, while commits all sorts of Cold-Blooded Torture and kills anyone he doesn't like in private. When he also tortures and attempts to rape Lance's ex, the audience considers that the breaking point and wants to see him a goner.
- Knight of Cerebus
- Played For Horror: Lord Reptilian is designed after Bob's abusive and violent ex-girlfriend, and is a Complete Monster Serial Killer whose hatred from the audience comes from him constantly inflicting cruel and unusual deaths on numerous innocent civilians.
