Basic Trope: Someone suffers from a nightmare created by their guilt.
- Straight: Bob experiences a horrible dream showing his heinous actions.
- Exaggerated:
- Bob has guilt-ridden nightmares for the rest of his life.
- Bob has pants-shitting night-terrors that haunt every second of his waking and unconscious existence, even into the afterlife, because he kicked the cutest puppy imaginable with a steel-toed boot.
- Downplayed: Bob has horrible nightmares about his misdeeds every now and then but it doesn't always happen all the time.
- Justified: An entity or an individual is causing all of these nightmares for Bob to punish him for his evil acts.
- Inverted: Bob does a good deed and has pleasant dreams over it.
- Subverted: It seems like Bob is having nightmares from guilt, but they're really just regular nightmares.
- Averted: Bob doesn't suffer any guilt-ridden nightmares whatsoever and has pleasant dreams.
