Basic Trope: A character who is good gets underestimated because of it.
- Straight: Bob is a Nice Guy, and Emperor Evulz assumes that he places Honor Before Reason. He is greatly surprised when Bob handily out-gambits him and sends his Evil Plan crashing down in flames.
- Exaggerated: Bob is one of the holiest characters of the cast, and Evulz thinks this makes Bob a Cuckoolander with Chronic Hero Syndrome. He ends up being very wrong as Bob manages to exploit flaws in both his plans and himself that ultimately lead to his empire's downfall.
- Downplayed: Bob is a decent guy but knows better than to trust a villain.
- Justified: Bob thinks that villains can always be redeemed, but knows that they're still villains in the meantime.
- Inverted: Bob is Stupid Evil.
- Subverted: Lance pulls a Wounded Gazelle Gambit, and Bob falls for it.
- Double Subverted: Bob was just getting close enough to punch Lance in the face.
