- Downplayed: Bob crams for his exams, but fails them.
- Justified: There was an oversight that the creators missed.
- Inverted:
- The thing works even better than intended.
- Gone Horribly Right
- Springtime for Hitler
- Subverted: The consequences of the failure are minor.
- Double Subverted: ...at first.
- Averted: The new product does what it was intended to do exactly as it was intended to do it.
- Lampshaded: "Look what happened! What should have been the miracle cured became nothing more than a disease creator!"
- Defied: The creators include precautions to prevent the new creation from going amok.
- Discussed:Alice: Do you think this would really work?
- Played for Horror: A new product ends up causing loads of deaths with Squick, blood, and gore.
- Played for Laughs: The failure surely is disastrous, but happens in a funny way.
- Parodied: All that is necessary for the creation to wreak havoc is for Alice to think about it.
- Zig-Zagged: Alice's Humongous Mecha destroys an enemy camp as it was supposed to, but kills her best friend Bob in the process. But Alice had found out Bob was The Mole, so she set him up to die for her benefit. But the mecha has developed pleasure in killing and rounds on Alice, then changes its mind ... because it's decided that it would rather blow up her kids Jimmy and Katie.
