Basic Trope: A story ends with the main character/s (or occasionally a different person) going to bed and falling asleep.
- Straight: An episode of Alice & Friends ends with Alice going to bed and falling asleep.
- Exaggerated:
- The episode largely consists of events during the daytime, where Alice is seen partying and working on a construction site and engaging in various other loud activities. The scene then abruptly changes to Alice in bed, falling asleep.
- For some reason, everyone in the whole universe falls asleep at the end of the episode, even the people for whom it's daytime.
- Downplayed: Alice is seen preparing for bed at the end of the episode.
- Justified:
- All of Alice's adventures today really tired her out.
- The whole adventure took like, twenty hours? It's only logical for it to be nighttime when it ends.
- The entire adventure is set at nighttime.
- Alice is narcoleptic.
- Alice is a toddler or a baby and still needs to take naps.
- Inverted:
- The episode starts with Alice sleeping, then waking up.
- The episode ends with Alice waking up in the morning.
- Subverted: Alice tries to get to sleep, but can't.
- Double Subverted: She gets a new pillow and is then able to go to sleep.
- Parodied: Alice's doctor informs Alice that she has narcolepsy and thus will uncontrollably fall asleep at 22 minute intervals.
- Averted: Alice is still awake when the episode ends.
- Enforced: It's a children's show, and the producers want to encourage healthy sleeping habits.
- Lampshaded: Bob: "Gee, everything we did today must have really worn Alice out."
- Invoked: Bob crushes sleeping pills into Alice's drink.
- Exploited: The bad guys immediately return to their evil ways now that Alice can't stop them since she's asleep. This forms the plot of the very next episode.
- Defied: Alice wants to stay up, so she drinks copious amounts of caffeine.
- Discussed: Bob: "All that adventuring really took a toll on me." Alice: "Me too! When I get home, I just want a long nap."
- Conversed: "I love the ending where the protagonist goes to bed. It shows they're only human, like the rest of us."
- Implied: The episode ends with Alice drowsily rubbing her eyes before entering her bedroom.
- Played For Drama: The episode ends with Alice crying herself to sleep after her father’s death.
- Played For Horror: Alice was drugged by someone else to fall asleep.
