Basic Trope: Monster has a large eye. Attack there to defeat it.

  • Straight: Tiberius the Golem has a single, enormous eye. Bob can attack there to deal heavy damage.
  • Exaggerated: Tiberius has many eyes and each one is a weak point.
  • Downplayed:
    • The eye takes slightly more damage, but aside from that is the same as the rest of the body.
    • In a street fight, Clay the Violent Glaswegian tends to target Bob's eyes, and it's highly advised that Bob does the same.
  • Justified:
    • Tiberius' eye is pretty much the only soft body part he has, as the rest of his body consists of solid rock.
    • Tiberius' eye is also his power source.
  • Inverted:
    • Hitting Tiberius on the eye actually heals him.
    • Tiberius' eye is impervious to damage, but the rest of his body is still vulnerable.
  • Subverted: Bob strikes Tiberius on the eye, but nothing happens...
  • Double Subverted: Because that eye is fake, his real eye is located on his torso and opens up only occasionally, and it's even bigger than the fake one on his head.
  • Parodied:
  • Zig Zagged: Tiberius has several weakspots: some are eyes, some are gems, one's on his crotch. When he Turns Red however, he attacks much faster but he's vulnerable all-over. To initiate the killing Quick-Time Event, however, you have to hit him in the eye. For the Boss Rush late in the game, Tiberius is zombified, and thus doesn't have an eye to be hit in: he's weak to healing spells instead.
  • Averted:
  • Enforced: Game designers want the fight to be tough, but not so tough that players can't figure out Tiberius' weak spot or can't strike there; the eye is a good target.
  • Lampshaded:
    • "The eye must not see!"
    • "Hey, leave my eye alone!"
  • Invoked: Bob goes for the eye due to the advantages of blinding an opponent.
  • Exploited: Emperor Evulz puts several fake eyes on his monsters, baiting attacks towards the strongest points on their amour.
  • Defied: Tiberius decided he'd rather fight blind than leave himself open like that, and fights Bob with his eyes closed.
  • Discussed: "I'll shoot him in the eye, see if that works."
  • Conversed: "Eeeeugh. Hitting people in the eye always creeps me out."
